Hate to give the Jerries any credit but, the Wehrmacht during WW2 were by any measurement the worlds best army. They were, to the second world war, what the British Army was in the first.

That rather depends on what criteria you employ to determine best, if it includes ‘winning’, then there may be some disagreement. 🙂

I’d agree. The world is not short of restored P40s.

This one has quite an unusual history as P40s go.

As another poster pointed out though, he has saved a lot of stuff from the smelter though.

Has he though? I get the impression that many of his purchases came from other museums or preservationists.

One would think you would still have to pay for the Plod escort as it is a slow wide load etc

It does not have to be a Police escort; just a suitable adorned escort vehicle, after getting the necessary wide load permission in place.

What operational capability would you suggest should be cut to fund this “you never know, for the future” cost?

I was merely pondering what the cost would be, not advocating such action.

I wonder what it would cost to keep it on a care and maintenance basis for any length of time? It may not be needed now but you never know, for the future …
