I can picture that wing fluttering like a dropped, crisp bill, until it got smashed to bits that is 😉

I wonder if they had persisted with the project would they perhaps have fitted an ‘air tail’ or drogue chute to stabilise the jettisoned wing in its descent?

Come on guys you must have a feeling in your heart when you saw a MDD aircraft flying the skies and they were the most fantastic aircraft in the skies.

To be honest I used to have a feeling of disappointment when I had to fly in one, but that’s just my personal point of view. I cannot think of a particular reason that would have made them ‘the most fantastic’ aircraft in the skies.

There is a (roughly) heart-shaped wood in the Lune Gorge, just south of Tebay, which was supposedly planted in memory of a WWI casualty. I am not sure whether it was aviation related, but it could have figured in a rail tour commentators script, given its proximity to the West Coast Main Line.

That looks like one of the ultra-Rare Lotus-Cortina estate cars next to the Seafire?
