What you probably don’t appreciate is that to get PK683 airworthy would require everything you see of the aircraft that ‘Did’ get built by supermarine in the 1940’s would apart from the data plate get thrown into a skip.

Down to a Sunless Sea.. by David Graham. Its no a historic story but it does involve a 5 engined 747 that is mid Atlantic when WW3 begins below them and what happens next.

Great story but as it was produced in 1977 some of is a little bit far fetched..cuban army in Ireland? but some of it is appropriate, for instance America is in a deep financial crisis and the oil has gone.

I remember reading that book …. It was awful! my excuse was that I was doing a long trip at sea on a tanker and had run out of anything else to read!
As regards books I would like to see as films; Night Fighter would do it for me, as long as the Blenheims, Beaufighters and Mosquitos were real and not CGI! Also possibly ‘The Big Show’, but that might raise issues of fact vs. fiction?
