Think I would rather know about the duds … !
Quite possibly, sorry I can’t remember the the UK reg …
I know everyone has their favourites, but as a place to come and sit down for an hour or so and quietly contemplate things, I have never been in a more appropriate place.
Quite rightly so – I have not been there for many years, but used to love going there. Glad to see no signs of windfarms … yet.
Thanks, that sounds probable.
Here’s one I took back in 2007 whilst I was in the UK. Any takers as to where it is?
Davidstow Moor?
They usually seem to be pretty quick to re-register anything, (D2-XXX) down here. I was presuming that the 146 was on delivery, just wondering where to etc.
A superb photo. What a sterile interest this would be if it was just about the latest pristine Spitfire or P51 off the (heritage) production lines? Personally I find airfield archaeology, wreck hunting, scrapyard remains, and all the less ‘shiny’ aspects of great interest.
I don’t think it was: Wasn’t the Sea Fury was the first Hawker fighter to finally get away from the Hurricane-style tubing fuselage frame?
I think you may find Corleone was in the infantry.
Just checked, quite right, no mention of flying.
Wonder if Mario Puzo borrowed a little of the story in making Michael Corleone an ex-USMC fighter pilot in The Godfather?
” Les restes du pilotes ont été retrouvés.” – My French is a little rusty; is that the remains of the pilot have been or had been recovered? (ie recently or at the time?)
is it cost? or too many jobs on at the same time? Man power?
Yes to all of those, plus in many cases a lot of time spent sourcing or manufacturing parts.
Thanks, looking forward to updates! – Pity that it was not a Typhoon:(
I take it to read that the engines are installed in the fuselage with shaft drive to the props in the wings.
Finally got to fly in one of the Q400s this time; big improvement on the -300 … or was it just the fact that I was on the way home??!! 😀
