personally, i think a stripped down version is good to, but i think A-10 can come cheap. i remember seeing a documentry on discovery channel, and they say the USAF actually paid only $30.000 per aircraft, but today that would be about $10.000.000. the low cost is due to the fact that it had no radar, no advanced flight controls, no GPS,….
the only thing the A-10 had was its robust airframe, heavy payload, the ability to opperate from short unpaved landingstrips and a long endurance.
so i say that about 8 of these aircraft would come quite in handy for the PhAF. 😎
in the words of Lt. Ben Gannon (stealth)
“Just send in the EDI’s”
looks like a similar aircraft, although can i get mine as a manned version cause i h8 UCAV’s 😎
lets see, good names for the J-10
-Finder
-Hardback
-Demon
-Flashback
-Sander
-Stormer
-Styler
ok, i know there not to good, but russians and chinese planes all have names like that, like: J-8 Finback, J-6 Farmer, Q-5 Fantan,….
Merry Chistmas everyone 🙂
best wishes to all 😉
this morning on BBC news it was announced that there was no corruption involved in the deal and that the Saudi’s will recieve the typhoon, i guess all the problems are now solved 😎
trust me, its authentic, no cgi or photoshop 😎
Back on topic:
on my DVD of the movie Godzilla (not the old ones), there was a nice looking russian H21 flying banana.
EDIT: here it is, sorry, the chopper doesnt appear in a good view during the scene 😎
maybe the B-2B “Super Spirit” 😀
i you read the bottom line of the article, it said early december, so its less then a month from now 🙂
What happened with the TV series? Is it still being made? It used to be broadcast in NL (with subtitles, LOL), but have not seen it in a long while.
the series ended after the second season in 1998, although both seasons are available on DVD, during the shooting of the movie, rumors were that there were 3 new episodes in the making that would show the transition from the show to the movie, but i guess that never got of the ground 🙁
another update:
http://www.mil.be/def/subject/index.asp?LAN=nl&ID=825
apparently it has been confirmed that the versions to be bought are:
– 6 NFH versions (2 for M-frigates and 4 for SAR)
-4 TTH versions (for paracommando operations and CSAR.
i hope they go for the F/B-23, its a good concept and in some cases better then the proposed F/B-22, besides, the concept has already been build, all they have to do is get one of there YF-23’s back, upgrade it and use it as a development platform.
its hell of alot cheaper then building a whole new plane.
error 404, interesting aircraft, must be stealth cause i never seen it 😀
thank got Belgium dropped out of the program in 2001, with the price of the F-35 now, you can buy an F-15E. as for Norway, i would recommend the Typhoon or FA-50 (or a mixed fleet of both)
if i compare prices, for the price of 2 F-35 you can get 1 F-22.
how much is the unit cost of the lightning II now anyway?
What the? Where did you find that?
i think i also saw that helicopter in the movie “Behind Enemy Lines”
