To echo Neil S’s comment, the company never belonged to Gene DeMarco. I expected better accuracy from a publication I’ve seen described as the world’s best warbirds magazine.
Rod Lewis’ Mosquito FB.VI PZ474/NZ2384 may have been mentioned earlier, it’s with Avpecs here in New Zealand and today had landing gear and bomb bay door retraction tests.
Thanks JohnT, in that case I completely understand.
Nelson and the team were at one point working away on Hawker Tempest Mk.II MW810. Does anyone have any recent information on that project? The most recent update on HawkerTempest.se is from January 2016.
I see updates on Nelson’s condition every so often on Facebook and he seems to be recovering well. I was very relieved when I learned he had survived the Sea Fury accident.
Hear hear! I may not always comment, but I always read and enjoy new posts.
Happy birthday ‘434! Thanks to time difference we share a birthday, so I’m very pleased to see these posts on my own.
And may I say how nice it is to see Sarah Hanna, especially with the birthday girl. Really lovely.
From memory Aerowood completed wing ribs for TPM and these may have been transported to the UK recently, or will be soon – possibly they were part of the cargo mentioned in the initial RNZAF-helps-shift-jig talk.
“I think its also a shame that they’ve said they will (hope to) effectively reproduce a FB.VI using the identity of a NF.36, rather than reproduce said NF.36.” – I’m not a great fan of the NF.36 but I agree. However, the FB.VI was the chosen outcome of the internet poll for what variant RL249 should represent, so democracy prevailed!!
While I’m disappointed this airframe won’t remain in NZ, I’m so pleased for the UK enthusiast community. What wonderful news! Fantastic! Bravo to all involved.
I too learned of Baz’s death through Facebook. I didn’t recognise the name but as I read on, I had a moment of recognition and sadness. I don’t think we ever talked on the forum but I always read and enjoyed his posts about his various projects.
A sad loss not only to this forum but the fraternity as a whole.
What a lovely update. Peter, I cannot imagine how it felt lowering yourself into the seat again after so long. Amazing.
Well, after all Daz, Real Messerschmitts Have Allisons! 😀
Lovely photos all, thank you!
I quite like the yellow on Contrary Mary.
How cool is that Psychadelic Monster-schemed Toyota? Brilliant!
Man oh man, this is getting exciting! Seeing the giftwrapped Fiat is a tantalising treat, and thanks to all for the photos of the Buchon.
But the highlight for me is seeing JG891 again. I didn’t expect her to be flying again so soon, and she looks fantastic. Congrats to everyone involved!
How nice it would be to see her with the Vokes filter and original RAAF camo…:D I know, dreams are free!
I was about to comment that I’d never seen a Continental or Lycoming on a Storch!
