I’ve voted – not that I’ll ever get to see it in person! – and have started a new hashtag: #FullCamel!
Great shots all, but that Super Cub looks a lovely example! Very nice.
I’m glad you’re able to confide in me. As long as you’ll let me in on the ground floor, I’ll keep it mum. I just got a B.35 bulged bomb bay off eBay from Oz – albeit one that’s 1/72th the size you need – but it’s Mosquito nonetheless 😉
Good on you and more power to you for your project. A daunting but impressive business.
Thanks for sharing the story, although the ending makes me incredibly sad.
I figured as much, it’s not much of a story. Earlier in this very thread I critiqued one they did about the Kee Bird.
Thanks for the link, David, but I’m struggling to see what new information WHO has brought with this piece – there are no dates mentioned (the engine run was back in September, from memory, but this article treats it as current news), nor does the writer say what’s next for the project.
I agree with seafuryfan, not just the engineering side but the fact you’re collecting a Mosquito piece by piece – it’s inspiring stuff and very exciting. More power to you!
PS – perhaps you could do some deals with Glyn Powell and AvSpecs? 😉
I don’t know how Kermit finds the time to post all that he does, but I’m grateful. While appreciating the drawbacks of FB, it’s a fantastic resource to stay informed about historic aviation news and groups.
He said he spent four hours today scrolling through, and replying to, comments about the Lancaster tease. How’s that? What a cool dude.
What a great mix of types! Thanks for sharing, Mark12.
Thanks Anna 🙂
Nitpick – the aircraft in the photo isn’t a XVI 😉 Perhaps a XIV?
Of course it’s Pete – my enthusiasm made me miss that!
You’re most welcome, Roger.
Here it is, although I’m wrong…it’s not a fuselage but an almost-complete airframe (doesn’t appear to have exhaust stacks). You can clearly see it behind the 88mm cannon on the left of frame: http://fofcollection.com.php54-2.dfw1-1.websitetestlink.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/Rigged-Snipe.jpg
I thought PJ was only acting as a producer on the film, not directing?
At the start of the project he was. Christian Rivers – something of a protege of PJ – was to direct, but as time passed I believe he went on to other projects. The current director is anybody’s guess.
I remember a picture taken by Kermit Weeks – possibly of a Sopwith Snipe repro – and a Mosquito fuselage could be clearly seen in the background. I’ll try and track it down.
I’m glad the remake rumours have been properly put to rest. Nice to read of how the aircraft are being disbursed too.
