Thanks for sharing your photos Paul, if only I didn’t live on the other side of the world! It looks like it was a great event, I bet the sight of the old girl firing up at dusk was quite atmospheric.
The Airfix Shackleton has FINALLY arrived in New Zealand shops, but I’d better check out the competition as well 😉 I’ve been wanting to build 963 for ages.
Thanks for the update Rich, I’ve seen some cracking photos on Facebook from the event. Oh to be local!
And I was just about to ask about the Spitfire. Lovely! Thanks for sharing, David.
Didn’t the earlier thread referred to have a photograph of several of the Lancaster FSMs in a hangar and in the background what appeared to be a Wellington. Or it may have been visible on the mentioned interview with PJ. Think the interviewer was Stephen Fry who wrote the screenplay????
Of course I could be more delalley than I thought I was…..
Roger Smith.
You’re quite right. There’s a photo of Stephen Fry and Mark Carwardine visiting a Weta/Jackson facility with Sir PJ, standing in front of a complete Lancaster with a Wellington visible to the side. I think there was a Mosquito in the background? I’ll try find it.
EDIT: Here we are! Take a look in the crook of Stephen Fry’s arm, I think that’s a Mosquito bomber nose. Wellington behind PJ. http://dambustersblog.com/2012/12/30/jacksons-model-lancaster-in-close-up/
Sold to Paul Allen in the US, currently under restoration to fly in New Zealand with a newly-constructed fuselage.
And, for those with Facebook, you can see a brief video of progress on TV959 from restoration shop AvSpecs here: http://www.facebook.com/Avspecs/?fref=nf
How long before another Mosquito arrives at Duxford?
Five years?
DH5 is a cracking looking aircraft also….
That it is. It has a more modern, flat-four engine though so it sounds wrong and has a smaller prop. It still looks the part though and is used as a trainer of sorts.

Would be nice to see a bit more of the F2B (Bristol Fighter) that is hiding in the back of the hanger!!
I didn’t take any photos because I thought there would be plenty of photos about from her time at Duxford :eagerness:
My gut says new-build, but I’m in no position to say for sure.
It was when I shared that link in the TV959 thread at another forum that I saw this from earlier in the year. Ignoring the fact that – to me – the fuselage in the photo looks like a fighter (TV959?) and is irrelevant to the article….

…is the BHHH project DZ542? I’ve not seen any mention anywhere about who DZ542 is for.
I posted too soon – more Fury photos! Thanks again, Matthias. It’s wonderful you are able to share so much with us.
Beautiful! Thanks for sharing, Matthias! I’m excited to see this Sea Fury fly again.
Excellent, I’ll be able to see it then! Thanks, curlyboy.
I’m with Sopwith, I’d buy and fly it in a heartbeat. I truly hope it goes to a home where it’ll be flown. Good luck to them finding a buyer.
My first thought was Kermit Weeks, then I remembered he had one under restoration – is this the same one?
I never expected to see any progress reports, photos or video about TV959. Very exciting!
No updates from BHHH that I’ve seen, although there is a placeholder page on their website: http://www.flyaspitfire.com/d-h-98-mosquito/
