Bruce Salmon has posted an in-cockpit video taken during an engine run and taxi test with David Phillips at the controls and AvSpecs’ main man Warren Denholm in the nav’s seat. I love Dave’s comment at the end!

Very jealous of Dave, Warren and Keith. Unless I win the lottery – not likely as I’ve not ever bought tickets – this is the only way to experience that power and that cockpit. Amazing stuff. This photo from this morning by Colin Hunter shows the cowls are now on the aircraft: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=422701964453903&set=a.420578974666202.94914.100001423099848&type=1&ref=nf

It’s a lovely piece of news television, and one highlight for me was seeing how advanced Glyn’s own project is. And to see him getting some well-deserved airtime.
The weather is looking reasonable for the next two days, test pilots David Phillips and Keith Skilling had turns at taxis and high power runs yesterday, and the NZCAA awarded the aircraft a Certificate of Airworthiness yesterday. A tantalising combination of factors!

Anyone know of one for sale? Have always “needed” one.
Haha Stan it would probably weigh the same as all your other aircraft put together! I’d love to see you turn up at a show with the Fox, Dragon AND an Avenger! I hope you have luck in fulfilling this need.
Daniel, it would be nice to know which aircraft, where etc. If you can’t post that info online then how can you post anything with the owner’s permission?

And she is now on the NZCAA register as ZK-MOS.
I’m very excited for Saturday!
I’m surprised no-one has posted these! Airspray, the painting company of choice for Avspecs, have several photos from Monday in their Facebook album that may interest DH.98 fans…

Full album covering the painting process may be seen here: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.281796788594446.62529.259682704139188&type=3 All photos copyright Airspray Ardmore Limited
The next month cannot go past fast enough!
The company painting this gorgeous machine, Airspray Ardmore, has a photo album on Facebook to allow the curious to follow the work as it is done: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.281796788594446.62529.259682704139188&type=1
The last update was an hour ago showing the topside green going on….who knew watching paint dry was so exciting!
I wrote a piece for the local newspaper about the issues, can be read here: http://www.stuff.co.nz/taranaki-daily-news/news/6928745/Rare-bird-touches-down-for-repairs
Another report just in at the same site says first flight was today (18/7/12) at 1117hr.
Page 6 of Classic Wings issue 85 clearly states it is a TFC aircraft. Hopefully GMO and Dave allow me to quote: “Following test flights the P-40 will join TFC’s other Tomahawk-P-40B(sic), 41-13297 at its Duxford base.”
I notice this thread has passed a quarter of a million views. If only I could charge 10p a time…..
I’d be happy to pay. Being stuck in New Zealand and having wanted to get to the UK – Duxford in particular – since my childhood this thread is a great insight.
