I’d love to see the TFC Beaufighter fly again, as well as the HARS project in Australia that has been mentioned occasionally. A Walrus would be lovely, but there is one type being worked on somewhere that would make me happy: the Stuka. I remember reading Paul Allen had one and, after the Sturmovik, it has to happen sometime. Not to mention Jerry Yagen’s desire for one, and he said to me he would have such a project done by MeierMotors. Has he a project we don’t know about?
Up to where old tricks?
:D:D:D
The ex-OFMC “Zero” did indeed come here in 1992 for the Alpine Fighter Collection, it went to Randal McFarlane in about 1998/99 and has been up for sale for a few years (I don’t believe he still owns it). I’d love to see it come back personally but maybe the UK should have it: we do have the FW-190 after all :p
I did a film one in 1/72 years ago from the Matchbox kit (I didn’t get the Paragon bomb bay conversion set though, so it’s a bit rough) and used the props and undercarriage from the Airfix kit. Painted as Gillibrand’s HT-C/HJ662 as seen at the start and peppered with shrapnel.
“That Jerry ammunition truck made for a pretty tempting target…”
I’ll see if I can find pics, I had the build at either the Airfix Tribute Forum or the Unofficial Airfix Forum.
There are also the remains of RG300 and TA717 floating about which could be used.
I’ve been in touch with the owner and he has at least RG300 “quite complete” including engines in the US, I’m waiting to hear back about TA717.
I’d love to see PZ474 return to the skies as it is an ex-RNZAF aircraft and the last to fly here in NZ during the 20th century. Must get around to buying those lottery tickets!
Best of luck to them, I will definitely follow with interest but a “nice” nose aircraft would be lovely 😉
I loved waking up this morning as tonight my girlfriend and I head to Auckland. Three flights were conducted yesterday, it will be interesting to see how many more they can squeeze in today before her debut tomorrow.
To be clear, the “Kiwi Mosquito KA114 FLIES!” take-off video is her second take-off, launching from Auckland International Airport back to base at Ardmore.
As I have it the next flyers are: B.35 VR796/CF-HML in Canada, T.43 NZ2308 (Glyn Powell’s own aircraft, glimpsed in the “Close Up” Tv news piece) here in NZ, and the T.III TV959 now owned by Paul Allen, currently in store at AvSpecs.
Cowlings for KA114/ZK-MOS were painted overnight and the last photo I saw had engineers poised to refit them to the airframe.
Forgive me if it’s been posted already, but Gavin Conroy has shared a picture he took from the chase plane on the first flight: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10151118345654713&set=a.280330269712.142043.265224834712&type=1&ref=nf

Discussion online inspired by KA114’s progress has seen members of the group suggest they have a timeline to flight of three to five years. I’d suggest five, conservatively, unless they already have work underway.

I’m so sorry I can’t share photos – I’m watching all this unfold online as well – but there have been some marvellous photos and even video uploaded already. Hopefully they will filter on in a matter of time 🙂
Rest assured she looks amazing, and right at home!
