RE: War on Iraq……Northern Iraq…..OIL RICH!!!
Well, I’m not sure what else could be done. After the downfall of Saddam, Iraq will essentially cease to function as a country. Different regions will demand independence. A part will veer towards “evil” (Iran) and other parts will want to be independent.
To keep the whole thing together, divide and rule will be necessary. Hopefully, democracy will feature a bit. But some commentators have suggested that democracy and islam are incompatible with each other (challenger – name ONE democratic and free Islamic state?)
Therefore, we might well see a US puppet regime.

RE: Question???????
There are four distinctions between North Korea and Iraq:
1. NK already has nukes (albeit only 1 or 2) whereas Iraq doesn’t. Attacking a potential nuclear power is very different to attacking an actual nuclear power.
2. Two allies of the US (South Korea and Japan) have an active policy of containment for NK. There is a tripartite agreement between the US, Japan and South Korea to develop two nuclear reactors in NK, of a type not easily used for a weapons program. The reactors are funded mainly by the US. In return, NK agreed to have it’s other reactors monitored. What has happened recently is that NK has ripped out the monitoring cameras and threatened to reactivate one of the research reactors.
3. One of the most powerful nations around (China) is next door to NK. China is willing to exert a little pressure on NK to reform. However, any use of force would turn this around 180 degrees.
4. An “ally” (Pakistan) has helped (even post 11/9) a memmber of the “axis of evil” (NK) in WMD research – a fact always glossed over by the US. An attack on NK might have an alarming response from Pakistan.

RE: Air Marshalls on U.K Flights
Generally I agree with that wysiwyg.
But where would you stow the gun? If it is to hand easily, than presumably somebody other than the pilots could pinch it? And if locked away, will that be too cumbersome to be effective?
RE: Flightdeck security
Do they actually carry charts or is it all held on the satnav, like in a car?
RE: Boeing a/c prices
Nobody actually pays list price – there’s always “discounts” involved!
Also, do those prices include engines and interiors?
RE: Fave Job
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 23-12-02 AT 00:14 AM (GMT)]I used to want to be a pilot, but since I scrapped that idea my ultimate job is now to be a liquidator. These guys are appointed by a court to act as judge, jury and executioner. They have incredible powers and they earn staggering amounts. A friend of mine from school qualified as a chartered accountant last year (it’s next year for me!) and almost immediately was registered as a liquidator. He earns something over GBP 200,000 a year and he isn’t even 27 yet.
I’d just like to add that another friend (my best friend) holds a PhD in biochemistry from Oxford. He’s unemployed and lives with his mum in Hull. Isn’t it frightening how worthless scientific training is in the UK?

RE: Parallel Universes
I don’t understand how.
If our universe is supposedly infinite, so must any others. Two infinities? That’s more than I can take in at the moment!
