Saab – don’t be too proud of Heathrow!

It is grotty, grimy, and BA absolutely hate flying there domestically!! (just annoyed because they axed the IOM-LHR route!)

I suppose T4 aint too bad but the other three badly need renovation.

    Also, the UK invented

    Ski-jump aircraft carriers,
    This fabulous language!!!!!

Not to mention saving France TWO times in the 20th century.

Again, have a sense of proportion.

I will confess that these events will happen from time to time irrespective of gun control laws.

    You can’t legislate for nutters.

    Garry

My logic stacks up very well, thank you very much!!

It’s a question of BALANCE. A sense of PROPORTION. Do these words sound familiar to you?

If you feel the night to have a gun for safety reasons – well, I will not argue against that.

But – but – if you do not want a gun for safety reasons then I fail to see the point of having one for any other reason.

Of course, a paranoid person might feel that he will always need a gun for safety reasons. That is why the choice cannot be left to indivduals – too many of them are paranoid!!

In response to your question – yes, I have lived in a city. I lived in a city which was host to the biggest AND the third biggest council estate in Europe. It was rough as hell! But I try very hard to have a sense of proportion and take my own experiences in context.

    Why can’t you?

    I’m an atheist.

We all need to believe in something????????

I suppose I believe in my fiance and my parents rather than “god”.

Do we have any legal eagles here?

How does this work – is a Greek sentence enforceable in the UK or Holland?

If they choose not to go back to Greece, do they remain free?

RE: we have enough laws here….

    Agreed!

People are the problem not guns.

Therefore you should not allow “certain” people to have access to guns.

The only sure way of doing this is by banning guns outright.

Denial of “rights” to a few people in return for the greater good in my opinion. Of course, some of you differ…

It’s all down to where you draw the line. Should nuclear weapons be available to anyone? Of course not, I hear you say! How about knives? Yes, I hear you say! Guns are somewhere inbetween and the side of the line they fall on is just down to personal opinion. I think the opening few paragraphs sets my opinion in stone for you all.

RE: we have enough laws here….

I sleep soundly at night becuase I have the moral integrity not to misquote others.

My argument was that gun proliferation was one of the factors leading to gun crime – I NEVER SAID IT WAS THE ONLY FACTOR.

So please do not imply that I did by quoting the Swiss case all over the place.

Logically, if something is caused by a variety of factors and you change one of the factors, you MIGHT change things for the better – depending on the sensitivity of the gun crime formula to the proliferation variable. You’ll never know for sure until you try it for real in a country that does have a problem with gun crime.

Also, the analogy with car deaths is a weak one at best.

If you go to places like expedia.co.uk you’ll find that the big carriers have always been competitive, even back years.

    RE: A380

£160m isn’t too expensive at all.

Most airlines might actually pay say, £200m with the cost of finance. Depreciated over 30 years, that might equal a cost of about £6m a year (allowing for £20m residual value upon retirement).

£6m a year to own an A380? I’m sure you can turn a profit on that for most of the 30 years.

    There’s a great one labelled

    “Uncle Bin’s Instand Anthrax”

modelled on Uncle Ben’s rice box, but I lost it.

    RE: Low Cost Airlines?????

In my experience that have never been especially cheap. Gimmicks like 99p returns are just that – limited availability gimmicks. And they have far more stingy delay/cancellation policies than the majors.

Also, though I don’t object to paying for food, it is a pain in the backside to scramble in your pockets for change in a tight seat.
