Again! Condolences to the families involved.

    According to the BBC:

“Our correspondent said employees at the factory had raised concerns about the gunman with their managers, complaining that he seemed mentally disturbed. “

So you’re saying Australia should be given back to the natives?

I think that is not a valid comparison. There, one culture moved in at the expense of another far less developed culture. In the case of Tibet, China was not really any more developed than Tibet: just bigger and more powerful.

You are confusing colonisation with invasion.

If the US proposed a solution to those commie b*stards in China, I’m sure I’d go along with them.

But frankly, GWB is more likely to bomb another easy target.

    Sauron,

No – I’m trying to be reasonable. Of course national security is a valid reason to be discreet. But there has to be some kind of safeguard, so that the gov’t can’t just wave the national security card whenever it feels like it. I do not know what these safeguards are. Would you care to explain?

And, as Garry pointed out, this can be done via a closed session of a normal court. Why do the Army have to be involved? Why the oppresive secrecy?

God yes, I think the demand is there to support this route. In fact the A340 might be too small!

Not that it may have been relevant to this incident, but one initiative that is being taken is to direct aid toward improved radar and ATC coverage.

Of course, it’ll need maintainence in 2 years and then they will just scrap the system because they will be clueless how to fix it…

Jeesh, that’s more passengers than some airlines fit in a 777!

Serioudly though, the figures quoted must be incorrect. For a 752, the max 2 class is 200; even if the “business seats” were the same as economy (a la BA) it would only be legally certified to a maximum of 228 seats. So the 2 class capacity of 253 would appear to be incorrect.

The -300 can have a legal max of 280 in a 1 class layout according to the Boeing website.
