Hi
I have used Airline for quite a while, and would recommend it. Delivery time is – not terribly quick, even allowing for a non-express postage from down under. But I think you can download it instead. If you have broadbannd it’s no hassle.
They release updates every week or so, based on feedback from customers. They invite you to email them, and there is also a user forum. The updates and general responsiveness of the publisher is one of the softwares best points.
PS – I’d summarise it by saying it was the “championship manager” of airline sims. Only with more frequent updates!
Airbags are dangerous if they activate too close to someone’s face. Without wanting to appear rude about charter airlines, that would seem to be quite a big risk, given the seat pitch we usually see!
Also, the seatbelts in an aeroplane seat do not restrain you to the same extent as say, a car seatbelt. There is therefore a slight risk you could be thrown forward at an angle and perhaps catch a glance on the side of the airbag. That would seem likely where there is lots more space, like in First class. I suppose that would increase the chance of damage to the eyes.
US Airways also fly the 762 to Gatwick, in addition to the A330-300.
I had a quick look at ryanair.com for a daytrip STN-BLK a week on Saturday – 1p each way!!
You only get 25 minutes at BLK though! But you can do an early morning departure and evening return for £12.50 return which strikes me as pretty good.
It’s just a shame I live somewhere like IOM, as otherwise I would give that a try one damp weekend.
Martin – aren’t Ryanair retiring the 732? I thought that was one of the reasons why they ordered 150-odd 738’s?
What is the seat pitch on MYT?
I think the legal minimum is 28″, and although I’ve never experienced that, I have flown long hauls with 31 or 32″ before and coped.
Are you talking about those strange propeller 747 lookalikes?
Martin, those are great shots – well done.
I agree the 732 is a nice ride. I remember once stepping off a 744 at LGW and taking off on a 732 to MAN about 40 minutes later, the difference was pretty darn big. It felt quite sporting and nimble, even though the engines look small and weedy!
Ah yes, probably!
I thought the missile idea was eliminated in favour of Kapton sparking?
Well the Isle of Man ones have had photos for ages and ages, but the UK was only in the late 90’s I think.
It was possibly an optional extra before then, but my licence was issued in mid 1995 and there was no photo. I moved to the Isle of Man in 1998 and surrendered my UK licence in exchange for a local one; I had to sit behind a webcam first.
Personally I agree with the people who regard it as all a bit too “big brother”, which probably explains why it was so late coming to the UK.
That’s interesting. Until a few years ago, UK driving licences never had a photo, which is probably why passports are the norm for ID.
I collected a parcel from the post office last night using my accountants’ registration photocard as ID – I forgot my passport. There’s just too many companies each with different rules, so I get confused! I’ll always use my passport.
That’s an unfair question.
They presumably feel bitter, but you should not consider them without also looking at the thousands of people who have got the new jobs created by the LCC’s over the last 5 years. Jobs go, jobs come. It’s just a routine thing in every country these days.
For 99% of people, ID=passport.
On a related theme, My Travel are suing the EU for about £500m.
They allege that the EU lost them that much in revenue and savings, by refusing permission to merge with First Choice a few years ago.
Go get em!!!
You have to pay extra to get a paper ticket, even on international flights. BA charge an extra £5 or £10.
