What’s SWISS got to do with it? Switzerland is not in the EU (good on ’em!)

I cant see the ABZ flights lasting.
At one point, LON-ABZ was the BA route with the distinction of having the highest % of Gold FF card travellers. Oil workers fly to ABZ every fortnight and they alone would make the route work, even without the other traffic.
Eastern fly MME-ABZ and I think they just upgraded from J32 to J41.
ABZ is pretty safe.

No doubt but there is something very tempting about
flying 1 stop from Edinburgh to, say OZ, rather than the
competition’s 2 stops?
Yes, but a lot of the EK flights are 2 stop. Their 777’s are godawful charter configured aircraft and they lack the range to fly to Oz. Most flights are UK-DXB-SIN-OZ.
They are deploying the A345 on some Oz routes, meaning you can do UK-DXB-OZ but by no means is that usual with EK.
Just try flying to NZ! They make you spend the night in MEL, in the terminal!
A far better option is UK-SIN-OZ with Singapore Airlines. They at least serve Manchester (unlike BA) and their 777’s actually have a normal airline seating configuration, unlike Emirates.

Exactly Kev.
So what if Ryanair are a bit mean to their staff? It is their perogative.
FIFO:
Fit In or Fu** Off!

Realistically, the tourism days are behind Jersey now. The place is too crowded, which means that prices will be naturally high.
Maybe there could be a high end tourism niche, but for now the biz/locals market is where it’s at.

Yes but the majority of business travellers won’t pay for “priority check in”.
A lot have silver/gold frequent flyer cards anyway, so can therefore use the Biz check in desks.
The difference between Biz and Economy is not sufficient to justify the extra cost. Maybe my employer (a firm of accountants) is just being very…accountantish, but I do think that a lot of firms take the same line to be honest.
We willingly pay for Biz Class for long haul flights, as in these cases the value for money is tangible: extra comfort, showers in the lounge etc.

Interflug nobody mention Ryanair.if Alitalia wants to survive catering must go for a while at least and becoming more punctual wouldnt hurt. When i look at a arrivals board Az and ib stand out as having bad punctuality and LH and Sk have excellent punctuality. Why are AZ always late.I saw their DUB-MXp flight departing today at 4 on the way home.It should have left a while before that.
I have an Italian freined and he says thats why he avoids Alitalia.
I don’t think that catering is the point. My wife is Italian-Australian and her parents, grandparents etc are all Italian immigrants. Their POV is that Alitalia got really low loads on Oz flights because of their really poor levels of service. And remember that Australia is home to perhaps the 3rd highest number of Italians in the world, after Italy itself and the USA!
After a horrible FCO-MIL experience 2 years ago I see their point: cabin crew were VERY rude to the extent of me wishing for AZ to go bankrupt!
