RE: Your nearest BIG airport?
My nation does not have a big airport sadly!
RE: Downturn in Holiday Bookings
Booking in advance = getting ripped off
Unless you have to go to a specific place on a specific date most people prefer to leave it till a bit later.
RE: Downturn in Holiday Bookings
I think it is 50% security concerns and also 50% hassle, because of the incompetent management of airports/airlines.
RE: Scottish delights
What do you think?
RE: Where to Get the cheapest flights.
Expedia has tix at £584 each with Iberia, flying EDI-LHR-MAD-JNB.
You might be able to get a better deal by purchasing the tickets a week or so before departure, but if there’s more than one passenger I’d say that might be a bit of a risk.
RE: bmi baby Manchester
Ryanair fly MAN-DUB I think, but Keltic’s right, for an airport of it’s size there isn’t really a low cost operator. AMS flights are usually cheap with KLM and the LHR and LGW shuttles are also cheap, but that’s it.
RE: Scottish delights
BMI are converting to an all-Airbus fleet, apart from BMI regional which will keep the ERJ’s. I’m not sure where the F70 or F100 fit into that, but best guess is that they will gradually be disposed of.
RE: UPDATE – Man held in Gatwick grenade alert
There is certainly a feeling that all this “show” is merely an effort to look good, rather than enhance security. A feeling I happen to share, by the way.
RE: Manchester Airport – Security…..
I don’t think there are any plans to close hotels.
Were this so, MAN would certainly not be the only one affected. There is a whole row of hotels at LHR, which run parallel to a main runway. LGW also has 2 hotels in the grounds, one of which is similar to the one at MAN in terms of proximity and the “view” from windows (Le Meridien).

I always thought Congo was a personal posession of King Leopold, not Belgium ?

RE: Airliner World 2010
Without wishing to unfairly criticise Argentine accounting standards, perhaps their version of “profit” is a little different to what we might expect in the UK.
The sheer weakness of Argentina’s economy (and their incompetent government) does not indicate much in the way of hope for AA.
RE: Plane or tank spotting?
At Ronaldsway airport in the Isle of Man, one can sit in the departure lounge and see the apron on one side and a field full of cows on the other side.
Nothing too unusual about that I suppose, but I always have visions of militant explosive fresians, like the exploding sheep in the game “Worms”!
RE: AirlinerWorld March 2003
What equipment will they use – surely not a 146?
RE: My Embraer flights PICs
Last year I stayed over at the SAS Radisson hotel at MAN. My room (nearly) overlooked that US Airways A330-300 in Keltic’s photo. It’s a nice view to start the day with, expecially when you’re flying off after a nice leisurely room service breakfast!
Just beats the Le Meridien at LGW as one of the best airport hotels (with a view) I think. Aslo happens to be a lot cheaper 🙂
