Do we even know the thrust produced by each?
Last I heard the Gr.9/A was not going to get ASRAAM. The Gr.7/9 has an extremely limited air to air capability compared to Sea Harrier, and would not be able to protect the fleet in a rerun of the Falklands conflict. The decision to withdraw Sea Harrier from service years before the F35B is even hoped to enter service was a very risky decision, but they did it anyway.
How does the Mi-28N compare to the Apache Longbow (I read that the name of the radar on the Mi-28N was the Russian word for Crossbow, which I thought quite amusing)?
The Bettlehog 350x sounds VERY interesting …
I’ve seen several pics of GR9s on UK carriers, was the main focus of the 9 upgrade to make it more Navy friendly?
Yes, but would the radarless Gr9 really be able to stand up to Super Etendards and Daggers? Especially since last I heard, they even cancelled the ASRAAM integration …
How feasible are electromagnetic catapults?
Pod the Blue Vixen radars from the Sea Harriers onto a GR7 or GR9. Apparantly a podded Blue Vixen has already been tested.
How long would it take to do that for 2 squadrons?
How would the British protect their landing force now there are no Sea Harriers?
I thought that wasn’t allowed without paying penalties?
the crap load of eletroinces added effected the performance
Maybe, but I hardly think it stabilises it …
Can anyone make a guess as to the relative stealthiness of the F-22, F-35 and F-117A?
LOL, if the F35 is outdated, what does that make the Typhoon/Rafale/Gripen?
I’m astounded to hear the the F-22 cannot carry LGBs …
I speculate it will be EH101.
A gunship version of the Mi26 would be nice to watch
– titanium and fibre armour bathtub
– 2 x 3-barrel cannon turrets on the side and 1 x 3 barrel in nose
– 24 ATGMS/rocket pods on dual “sopwith camel” biplane wings
– a bomb bay for another 24 missiles/bombs
– 2 x HMG operated by door gunners
– XM777 105mm field gun pointing out the rear
Rather unwieldy, don’t you think? And the XM777 is 155mm.
