Excellent work Michael! Was this your first attempt with the 400D? What lense are you using?
Usual good standard from you Lance, that air ambulance is a lucky catch. Skiing accident?
Thanks guys for the great response! I shall try get the second bunch up asap. I struggle for time these days, working full time at the moment in the AA biz lounge at STN, saving for my round-the-world tour in March!
xpboy, they were all edited using PS7 (I’ve been using it for years now, never really seen the need to upgrade to CS2 or anything).
Tartan Pics, the beach is very accessible! The beach in the landing shot is where all of those wide angle shots were taken, if you look carefully in the landing shot you can even see a guy waving. If you walk round the corner a little (to the left of that frame) you can then stand side-on with the touch downs such as the Air Berlin. The Air Berlin was taken at 30mm! If you stay in a resort called Matagorda, it is literally a 3-4 minute stroll along the promenade to the approach lights. Infact, you can even sit on the balcony and shoot them aswell (http://www.jetphotos.net/viewphoto.php?id=6023799&nseq=31)

When you talk about safety and security for passengers for ryanair you could be talking to a brick wall. Ryanair are a LCC which means they have to exicute there planes for at least 18 if not more hours a day which is why the cabin crew didnt speak english on the way there beacuse the crew were operating a leg THAT should of been done by a ENGLISH crew.
I’ve never heard such an inaccurate post. The cabin crew didn’t speak English, because they were operating a leg that should of (have!) been done by an English crew?!
Since when do flights from England have to be operated by an English cabin crew? Have you ever considered that either they were foreigners working in Britain, or that they may have been based in Italy and operating from Pisa-Prestwick-Pisa. In that case what are they meant to do….get off the plane in Prestwick and walk home?!
I’ve had 2 similar stories with Ryanair…
Firstly, last June we were due to be flying home Rome Ciampino – Stansted. Our aircraft on its way to Ciampino suffered from a medical emergency diversion, thus having to turn round and head back to the UK (I’m not sure how far they’d got when the emergency occured). We were then told that due to it being a rather uncertain situation, our departure would be delayed inevitably. Then all of a sudden, the screens showed a departure time just 30 minutes later than scheduled. Upon boarding the aircraft, the captain explained that they (a standby crew) had flown the aircraft EMPTY from Luton to Rome to pick us up, due to uncertainty regarding our original outbound aircraft.
Secondly, was just last 2 weeks ago. We were due to fly Girona – Rome, and 2 days before the flight the ground handlers in Rome announced a strike from 0900-1800 (our flight was due to land in Rome at 1400). Instead of cancelling the flight and making us fly a day later, they shifted the whole timetable 8 hours ahead meaning we could arrive in Rome once the strike had finished.
It’s not all as bad as the newspapers say!
I have 4 hours to kill on Tuesday, are the pics taken within an easy walk of the airport?
I’m afraid not at all really. The walk would require about a 10 minute stretch along a busy dual carriageway with no pavement! All together it’s about an hour walk from the terminal, as they’re taken at the RWY05 end which is the complete opposite end to the terminal.
Are these taken from the end of the lane by the approach lights (by Elsenham Foods if they’re still there)?
No, that lane is for the RWY23 arrivals (but yes, it’s all still there!). These were taken from the RWY05 end, along the old A120 towards Takeley.
Cheers guys for all the kind words, much appreciated! Will hopefully have some Dublin/Aer Lingus A330 ride shots up soon!
Nice work mate, especially considering the weather! Good to see you back..
Many thanks fo your kind comments as usual people! As soon as I get another free moment, I will upload a load of recent shots from STN + the ones from my trip to Dublin/Shannon this week (which should be quite successful seeing as the weather is looking perfect!).
Nice work Tom, especially like that first TOM 767 in the flare.
Excellent shots mate! Did you realise that the Ryanair EI-DWH was only delivered 3 days earlier, on the 20th October!.
Hmmm how is this going to work?
Does it literally mean that come March, complimentary service on GB Airways will stop, and all of the routes/aircraft will be taken over by EZY? Which means A321’s in the EZY livery?!
Thanks very much guys for the fast help, very much appreciated!
Ok so on the 13th November I’m flying to Belfast City, and then over to Prestwick at around midday (to try out Ryanair’s shortest ever route, tis like 90 miles or sommething stupid!). Shall walk to one of those spots, and then fly home at 1735.
Then the week after on the 21st I shall be there for a bit longer, flying up from Stansted at 0950 and leavaing again at 1735. If anyone’s gonna be around, feel free to get in touch!
All for a grand total of 5p 😀
Hi mate,
The route tracks the North coast of Wales and then crosses over Liverpool, then turns South over EMA and to the East of BHX. You should then aim towards LTN and then it’ll follow one of the approaches into STN. Or atleast that’s the way it’s taken me on the 15 or so crossings I’ve made!
