Great photos andy, such a shame though. I’ve only seen BOAA once I think, and that was from the LHR viewing terrace about 6 years ago when it landed from JFK.
This Air Traffic congestion these days is ridiculous! I told you we could crawl there quicker.
There are rules to say what they can and can’t do, but I’ve heard them being told off plenty of times at STN. Generally for taxiing too fast and creating ramp problems when they arrive too quick. Last time I was up the control tower at STN a RYR732 was 240kts at 6 miles out, not sure what this should be but it sounds a bit too fast for me? I know the speed limitation below 10,000ft is 250kts, but for an approach it still seemed too fast?
These days many airport positions require a Criminal Records Check in the UK. This costs about £13 but takes at least 3 months to get the clearance certificate. Most employers will not entertain the hassle of getting one of these for a 1 week placement. Your best bet would be to look for small commercial operators (air taxi, etc) operating from smaller airfields rather than airports.
It’s surprising them how they don’t seem to be reluctant at all at STN. And I’ve never been told anything about getting a criminal record check either
I’ve got airside passes into the FLS hangar plenty of times, simply by my dad requesting one from security and they’ll hand it over.
Yep I’d agree with the Eastern J-41, due to the length.
On take-off from GLA. Note in the second one, the patch on the tarmac where the Continental aircraft has just been de-iced.
Oops….still getting used to this new system!
On approach to Sharm El Sheikh airport on an Astraeus 737-700, down in those waters is where the flash airlines aircraft went down several months ago. Sorry about bad quality, taken with my old standard non-digi camera.
Taken on EZY 737 from GLA-STN. First is climbing out of Glasgow. Next is Manchester from 30,000ft. Then RAF Cranfield from way up high. Then turning onto finals low over my school playing fields. Finally is my town whilst on approach to STN 😀 If you look for the church spire in the middle of the pic, my house is somehwere o the left of that.
A few of mine. Taken onboard an EZY 737 from STN-GLA. First stuck between two great layours of cloud, then on descent, and then on approach over amazing Scottish Countryside.
Why thank you kind sir! 😀
I think the bosses son designed that one on MS Paint, and still did it in a rush! Looks very tacky indeed, as does their website, and if you search on airliners.net you should see what they look like on the inside!
It strikes me to see how so many of you have had difficulty trying to get something aviation related, and yet at STN (renowned to be one of the tighest, security wise, airports in the UK) offered me 2! Maybe I am actually quite lucky!
Jeanske, I’m not sure if you have the same ‘work experience’ in Belgium, but I just sent a letter in simply telling them about my ambitions, my interests and my school grades.
I dont think every Ryanair plane based in Dublin passes through Stansted everyday does it?.I didnt see it on sunday and planes have been departing off 34 here in Dublin which meens they go over my house at about 1000ft and I havnt seen the Islandsflugs colors at all.
Most of them do! In 2 hours at STN you will probably see about 30 of the Ryanair fleet. Fair enough, some of thse will go and come back during the day, but over the period of a whole day nearly all of their fleet will pass through. Although the logo-jets aren’t as common down here as they used to be, we’re getting all the brand new ones.
As far as I know, Ryanair no longer have the XLA 738’s. I see most of the Ryanair fleet over and over again pretty much every day here at STN, and I certainly haven’t seen the XLA 738’s around for the past couple of months. I think one was going to ‘Miami International’.
