Thankyou for the kind commens everyone.

It seems ages since we last saw your splendid work on here, Dan.

The first Ryanair shot is my favourite, too. 😀

It has indeed been ages. There’s a lot of commitments at the moment, A-levels, coursework, options after 6th form, flights to book, girlfriend…and phtography is still in there! It was nice to stand out there yesterday aiming my camera at planes again, but it was almost impossible to drag myself away and go to work. Now that the eves are getting longer, it will bring extra photography opportunities.

I’m seeing if I can get transport to LGW on the morning of the 1st, and if so I will post a new thread this evening to try and get people to put their names down for the 1st.

    Nice report Andy.

Good to see you didn’t come to Bishops Stortford searching for me and to harass my girlfriend 😉

Did you end up spending most of the day airside at STN?

Is anyone else gonna confirm that the 1st is a good date?

If not, is there a significant interest in another date?

I think we’ve debated the pro’s and cons about why we’ve got this forum enough already. Let’s see what happens Dan ? 😀

If it gets too little attention for you, then I vote a return to the former and I’ll go post elsewhere… :diablo: 😀

By attention, I mean simply getting enough people clicking on it to atleast make the time and effort of posting pictures worthwhile.

But yeah, let’s see what happens 😎

If this sub-forum gets as little attention as the trip reports forum, I don’t think I’d be interested in posting photos here anymore.

But in trying not to spoil this thread, here’s one. Taken at dawn, Honolulu – Los Angeles, onboard a United 757-200 about 3 weeks ago.

Hmm, my source contradicts most of that!

Tells me an A320 outbund, and an A320 inbound

Jet2 seems to be just 733’s.

Ok I’m swinging towards the 1st August at the moment. I can get a Jet2 146 from LGW-MAN then a Bmi ERJ 145 from MAN-LHR…..£45 return inc taxes doesn’t seem bad.

Ok, so which of the 1st or 2nd is most suitable? I still don’t know if I can make it, but once people have given an idea as to which day is best, I can have a look at getting a decent flight.

Well i’m hopefully going to have two trips to AMS, one at the start of summer, and one at the end! I’m aiming to fly at once a week during the end of July all of August.

Going to get AMS, LHR, DUB all booked, as well as my current LBA-BRS-DUB-LBA in June, and am also looking at LBA-BHD-LGW-MAN, and LBA-BFS-LPL-AMS-LBA.

All should hopefully be possible if I keep my job! :).

    Uh-oh, turning into a flightaholic!

I can’t do 17th August as that’s the day I get my AS results. I’m available on any other day.

Ah, is that when all AS results come out? I was wondering when it would be…our 6th form haven’t told us yet.

Ok, let me put down a couple of dates which may work for me, then see how people can fit in to them.

    August 1st or 2nd.

    August 29th or 30th.

There are a couple of Fridays during August which may be possible, but I reckon flights will be a lot on those days.

Lets see who is around on those 4 dates. We might even have to end up splitting it into 2 meets if some dates are just impossible for others. Wouldn’t matter too much aslong as there is a lot of interest on 2 separate dates….

I should also add that Tom (LBARULES) should get to choose which dates fit him best, and then see how people can wok around them. Seeing as he created the thread.

The truck is on wheels, and there is still friction between the track and the truck. The air track is meant to eliminate the friction as much as possible, to a very small amount. I don’t have specific values for the friction, no.

The truck is being accelerated by the falling mass. The loss in GPE of the falling mass can be calculated using:

the mass of the falling mass x g (9.81N/kg) x the distance beween the velocity measurement points.

    The KE is calculated by:

0.5 x the mass of the truck x (the final velocity)^2.

The KE is always greater in my calculations, although in an ideal situation you’d expect the KE to be equal to the loss in GPE.
