Mind you, the wind is supposed to be pretty much negligable tomorrow. So I have no idea what LHR will use.
Is there a prefered runway LHR uses when wind is negligable?
27L/R is preferred, as it avoids climbing out over Central London. Even if there is a slight wind from the East (not sure on the actual amount acceptable) then they’ll use 27’s still, unless it shows likely to be coming from that direction all day.
You can also drive round to the crash gate at the end of 08R, for taxiway shots.
Here’s a couple I took back in September:

It’s just round on the perimeter road.
Then Rynair arives at Stansted which is a two hour journey by public transport to London as it is stuck in the middle of the countryside way up in north sussex. There is more travel expences there and back.
Someone’s Geography is excellent.
North Sussex? Try Essex.
Middle of the countryside? Try 30 miles from central London.
From me too..
I wonder how the emergency services will get this under control, or if they will just let it burn itself out?
I guess it’s a case of letting it burn out. I think the sheer size of the fire makes it impossible to put out, because there’s a constant supply of fuel for it. I guess they’ll be more worried about making sure that it doesn’t take control of any other surrounding buildings.
The horizon is looking a horrible black/brown colour from here (about 30 miles away).

To be honest I think that the last shot of the Swiss 146 would be the best of the lot if it were cropped just a little less tightly.
Agreed, crop the left of the frame so that you can just see both engines on the right-hand wing. Then crop the right of the frame so that it comes in just to the right of the wing’s spoiler. Then leave a little space at the bottom and tops of the frame. Would come out very nicely!
Cheers for the comments!
Lance, the lense is the Sigma ‘Bigma’ 50-500 F4-6.3 DG.
Cant wait to spend a week on the beaches of ACE pointing it at planes 😀

A very good set of shots, and even a great improvement from last time!
Only a couple of weeks ’til I’m at MAN again. But before then I’ve got a week of trying out my new lense in Arrecife/Lanzarote 😀
And yes, excellent news for STN. 90 routes, that’s a pretty damn large amount. How many routes do BA serve from LHR?
