And where exactly would he find one of those in Western Ireland? 😉

    Moggy :p

You mean you have never seen those grid locked jams in the morning? Two tractors and a herd of sheep all trying to get into the local main street 🙂

even better airmanship would have been to pick somewhere closer to land and got down sooner, or did he not take the usual route? If he took the usual route he could have landedd in Scotland.
Oh dear, I’ve done it again. Made myself look a sirry pirrock through not reding the article properly. Maybe the range of the aircraft made it theoretically possible but I still consider it bad airmanship to have relied on the actual matching the theory. Stories like this do nothing to enhance the views of the general public towards aviation.

I agree he should have landed sooner than what he did. Shannon is not excatly the furthest westerly part of Ireland, so he had to fly over land, or down the river to get to the airfield.

A precautionary landing in a good field would have been safer, rather than pressing on and have a failure over a populated area.

I was watching the news last night and I thought the Swedish boy was still missing? Also the child on the news I’m thinking about was aroung aged 10.

I hope that they will be reunited again.

    Hard-working long-term club aircraft aiui

Sad that the club may have lost two of it’s a/c then.

Unfortunate that they had two accidents on the same day.

Were these club aircraft, or just folk from out of town making a mess of things?

I seem to remember they are Birmingham-based, or thereabouts. Just your standard rock band really, but very good. Age span? Depends how much substance abuse they get involved in I suppose.

    Moggy

Nah, not those ones! They are from Essex anyway 😀

    Moggy C,

when you have loaded the route into the GPS, when does it become effective, i.e. I have the GPS switched on, I’m lined up for t/o and start to fly the route. Do I have to start the GPS with the route I have loaded, or is it fairly obvious one it’s loaded on?

    Cheers

p.s. is there a website that automaticaly puts the wx into ProPlan, or do you just get them from the Met.

From your profile you appear to have been born in 1992.

    Moggy

I was looking at my profile a few days ago, and I also appear to have been born in 1992! I’m starting Secondary school in the Summer 😀

Flying during new year – nice idea. I’ve just got my Night Qual and have not sent my log book away yet, so I can’t take any passengers up yet – be a bit lonely up there myself on New Year!!

I’m in Glasgow and was thinking about flying over to Ireland in early March, but if anybody would like to meet up down south (no, not OZ.) then i’d be interested to hear from you. When down I’d like to spend two days, just flying around and enjoying some nice beer!

There is a case for pointing out a lack of funk in the recent albums, but I’d be more inclined to say that they are actually just bland and blending in with other groups doing exactly the same.
Someone said something recently (about premier league footballers, I think) which I will paraphrase: of course they aren’t hungry anymore – they are millionaires! And that is the point: catch a group when they are on the up, when they have the hunger, because when they have made it then they can relax on their country estates or ranch or luxury yacht or where ever.
#Give it away, give it away, give it away now#…?

At least Johnny Vegas livened that one up a bit… “”How d’ya tell which one’s which?… Dec’s the gay one!”

Did you not think Dec looked sh!t scared when big Johnny was standing behind him? He got off the stage pretty quick, but then the next award he got, he stood for ages rambling some guff.
