Grim news. They’ve had an excellent run since Mt. Erebus in ’79. Hopefully the crew will be found alive.
To the non-experienced flyer, or those who don’t spend as much time looking in to it as we do, I would hazard a guess that people would be more ‘comfortable’ landing on water than an attempted landing on ground (away from a runway). Perhaps as the seas/oceans offer almost unlimited ‘unobstructed’ landing space. I think it is a good thing all flyers don’t realise the immense difficulties of a water landing.
For a long time I have considered the life vests as almost a ‘novelty item’ intended to reassure people. Though I don’t deny they have and will remain useful in certain instances.
& whatever happened to free will & democracy, to sit there and type that everyone should have to is just the type of attitude that really ********s me off. You shouldn’t “have” to do anything, what is this? Iraq?
Why should I give blood? (I can’t because of my job) Why should my children be made to give blood? Just because they can? Come on, get real.
Sorry, didn’t mean to come accross as a Dictator. I was just getting at the fact that blood supplies are always very low – dangerously low in some areas – and that more people should give blood (obviously some are unable to).

Aw well. Doesn’t seem all that worthwhile either way, using them for a handfull of passengers.
Does religion have a part to pay in this? That is to say, do any religions ‘forbid’ or ‘prevent’ members from donating organs? Also, what about hypocrisy? Should a non-donor be made to wait longer to receive an organ than a donor card carrier?

I found it a bit odd that one of the (ex) top guys at Zoom UK is looking to start up a business taking over some of the services offered by XL UK (AW, recent issue). My first thoughts were that if the services could be economically run, then why didn’t XL scrap other routes and keep operating those.
I’m not a ‘business minded’ person though, so it probably all makes sense somehow 🙂
It does provoke a lot of thought. Initially I would think that I would want my body to rest in the ground “as I was” during life, but then I have to realise how much of a (literal) life saver my organs could be for someone else. I’m on the fence at the moment.
A step down from organ donation: blood donation. I personally think that everyone who can: should have to.

Dan Bradley was hired as second unit director because of his work on the second and third Bourne films, so the film would continue the gritty action style begun in Casino Royale.

Sorry, I knew something to do with Solaces action had to do with Bourne. I jumped at conclusions when I mouthed out about the production team.

Or, IMO a series far superior to Bond (Spy type) films was the “Bourne” trilogy.
I think Solace was produced by the same guy/s who did Bourne – perhaps explaining all the action in Solace.

James Bond is a bit like Doctor Who – the one you grow up knowing is the one you like most. For me, Sean Connery was the best, with Daniel Craig a close second, followed by Pierce Brosnan and Timothy Dalton. George Lazenby looked the part but wasn’t charismatic enough and poor Roger Moore was wasted on the scripts he was given.
Before I opened this thread, that is the first thing that came to my mind. People cringe at who the new Doctor is/may be, but a lot of the time it is because they are used to a particular one. After spending time with a new one, they become more accustomed to them.
Daniel Craig, the best bond?, that’s not even funny, no class, no charm he just comes across as a thug. might as well have got Bruce Willis to do it.
The names Bond, James Bond, Pal:rolleyes:
Well said Bruggen – all the things that make Bond, Bond are missing from DC – he has no humour, charisma or sophistication. After Casino Royale I really have got no interest in seeing the latest one.
As has been said, I think the whole point of Craig is that he is Bond at the beginning. Rough around the edges before all the experience (and ladies!). Think Batman Begins – a darker, more edgy look into the early days.
I unfortunately grew up in the Brosnan era. Where as he certainly had the humour and charisma, I never ranked him as high as my nations own Sir Sean. I think I prefer Craig now though, I love his ‘no nonsense’ attitude.
