awesome. I remember KERVIJN did post something about these a long time ago but I guess these are the 1st pictures I see. Now I have to find more from the Fuji to get a view of the roundel.

I would love to find a good picture of the roundel on the Aero Subaru!

    Hutt River

Hutt River Fuji FA-200-160 Aero Subaru and Cessna 182. The Principality of Hutt River is a micro-nation in Australia, claiming to be an independent sovereign state and to have achieved legal status on 21 April 1970. It remains unrecognized by Australia, however. The principality is located 354 miles north of Perth, near the town of Northampton in the state of Western Australia. It has an area of 29 square miles, making it larger than several independent countries. From airliners.net and jetphotos.net

always the same problem with b&w pictures.

It looks to me like perhaps the earliest form of a distinctly Canadian roundel. Take the one currently in use- in this case the RAF roundel- and just add something to it to make it uniquely Canadian.

it looks like the red part is painted over leafing the maple leaf!

A blue maple leaf was placed over the red center of the RAF roundel. Here is a profile, from Wings Palette.

Venezuela Beech 18 with roundels on the sides too but missing the red color. Nowadays there is no roundel on the fuselages sides

and a Venezuelan F-86. Roundel without sidebars

I think the red in the roundels has faded and worn off. Note the same on the wing roundels.

I’d like to express my sincere gratitude to everyone who had participated in uploading Seychelle’s Y-12 pics.

It’s the ultimate power to keep this amazing thread alive, and I’m hilariously proud of you guys.

Please do not let me be the only one. Feel free to join in uploding exotic AF pics you came across on the net.

    TIA

I agree absolutely. And you, cy24driver2, have made some incredible contributions for which I am very thankful.

The flag gives a good time indication, from 1977 to 1996

Correct. It is the flag of the State of the Comoros under the Ali Soilih Regime, which was in power from January 1976 – September 30, 1978.

I’m curious- why have many air forces discontinued the use of roundels and insignia on the wings fuselages of their aircraft, now marking the fins only?

It was on the 27th of May, 2004 that glanini made a simple request for some small air forces pictures. He couldn’t have had the slightest clue about what a massive phenomenon he had started. Thanks, glanini, for instigating perhaps the most astonishing collection of aircraft images ever assembled in one group.
