Between Noratlas’ tail and the first flag, just above C-47’s fuselage, there’s another tail with that fin flash. Can’t recognize of what type yet, though.

We’ve all spent hours, days, years of hour life surfing sites, foruns, etc. And then Facebook came…

Wonderful finds, nonetheless. As for the other aircraft, let me do some digging. The image doesn’t give too many clues…

and at least one other type, its fin seen behind the C-47’s fuselage in this picture:

Just by looking at the serial numbers, and without doing any confirmation or cross-checking, my first guess is that the first batch(es) of the above mentioned types got the fin flash. But, why not all types operated in that same period of time (70s)? The Angolans had a lot of support from Cuba, mainly operating the above mentioned types. Could that be a reason, that the “Cuban-operated” aircraft wore the fin flash?

But then there’s the PC-7 fleet also with the fin flash and a little younger than the above. Once more, the type was also operated by “foreigners”… Could there be a link of some kind? Would definitely be interesting to know for sure!

I see a Noratlas tail to the left, and a BN-2 tail to the right. WHERE DO YOU GUYS GET THIS STUFF? It is absolutely amazing.

Great find with the Mig, MiG!! Much better than this “avatar”.

I knew you could find’em and i’m eager for more! 😎

A few more from Guinea Bissau, some already known but don’t know if they’re posted in this forum:

Regarding the Guinean Do28, unfortunately it’s not military but a good catch though. It was recently recovered and put on display at the Osvaldo Vieira Airport’s entrance to celebrate the country’s Civil Aviation Agency 10th anniversary.

the times are changing unexpectedly. I’m again working on my site.

I just noticed that you have two Abkhazian roundels. The one with the yellow “bars” is a misinterpretation of the Mi-24 photo. The bars are in fact traces of flare suppressors that have been removed. Abkhazian aircraft have also worn white stars (Yak-52 and L-139).

There should be a list of requests in this thread 😀 It’d be useful to give an idea of what images to search for

PS: And a list of what has already been posted could be nice too!

I tell you what I would like- a Bhutanese Mi-17 or Do-228 with the purported orange-white roundel. As of now, I could die a relatively happy man if I got one.

Chris, you must have an insane collection- thanks! Now, can anybody tell me what color this Trinidad and Tobago Gazelle might be? Anybody know if it has the national flag fin flash?

When you account for inflation, that means the F-35A will be roughly half the price of an F-22.

And, I assume, with an accompanying compromise of the intended stealth tactical fighter capability that the F-35 is supposed to share with the F-22?

I understand that one reason the F-35 was chosen was its “commonality” with the F-22. First, is this even true? Second, assuming that it is, is it really such a big factor? Third, seems to me that the money that will ultimately be wasted on the program will far outweigh whatever “cost savings” “commonality” may realize.

    See the following from http://www.defenseindustrydaily.com:

“The F-35 family was designed to be much more affordable than the F-22, but a number of factors are narrowing that gap. One is… loss of parts commonality between the 3 models, which the GAO has cited as falling below the level required to produce significant savings. In March 2013, the JSF PEO placed the figure at just 25-30%.”
