Thanks!
I hope it isnt a repost…

I’ve never seen this image before- thanks! I have one partial photo of a similarly-marked Ugandan UH-1 with the segmented roundel, but this is much better. As far as I know, this particular roundel is rather rare- thanks!
Agreed
I emphatically agree, Flex. I repeatedly look back through the prior small air forces threads, and I still find great stuff. These threads are an aircraft modeler’s dream come true. My profuse thanks to everybody who has contributed and continues to do so.
It may be slightly off subject, but I couldn’t resist posting this profile I found on the Wings Palette site of a very weirdly marked mongrel FW-190A. It’s apparently from the Freies Deutschland (ex Kommando Seydlitz?) unit. According to a Luftwaffe report this aircraft, flown by a German fighter pilot, was shot down on April 26th, 1945 in the area around Riga, Latvia. The artist is Pierre-Andre Tilley, and the source is Aero Journal No.27 (2002).
Fantastic Small Air Forces Threads
Great site Basnshee….
Especially this one – Egyptian MiG21 landing!

Browse through this thread, and check out the previous small air forces threads as well. There is some phenomenal stuff in them!
Just Info
I speak of airplanes, not of religion. Ethiopia can buy airplanes to whoever independent of its religion. However, if somebody has felt like victim, although not why, my excuses.
Sorry for my non good english.
Regards from Spain.
No harm intended- just providing information, not being judgmental.
Obviously Not
“Muslim brothers”? Do you know nothing of Ethiopia, its history, culture & religion?
He obviously doesn’t. Ethiopia has been a Christian land for centuries. Ever hear of the Ethiopian Coptic Church? One of the figures mentioned in the New Testament was an Ethiopian, for example.
3 Pics of Angolan Su-22. Last pic show an ex-slovakian Fitter for Angola.
Note the new insignia, without the yellow star in the center.
Bosnian Gazelle
Photos of two Bosnian Gazelles

Does anybody have pictures of Dornier Do.27s from Angola, Belize, Burundi, Congo, Guinea Bissau, Rwanda, or Sudan? I understand these countries were operators of this aircraft. I’m contemplating the purchase of the 1/72 Huma kit, and would like to build it in unusual markings. Thanks!
A really rare one- from Rwanda.

Mauritius Chetak
Does anybody know what the text on the fuselage of this Chetak from Mauritius says? Thanks for any help!
Suriname
I stand corrected about Suriname- I did not know about the Brunswijk Jungle Commando. Thanks, Arthur. I learn something new every day…
For a case of beer? You’re on!
Some things you have to consider though… A lot of air forces participated in WW2, including a number of South American ones. That one conflict already clears the bulk of Europe (with the exception of Ireland, Switzerland and Sweden, but those are covered above).
Then there are lots and lots and lots of insurgencies and low-intensity conflicts all through Africa, Latin America and Asia. Ranging from high-attention stuff like the Vietnam War to the Surinam conflict with the Brunswijk Jungle Commando. Air power being usually involved, if not in direct combat than at least in a recon/observation role.
So I’ll gladly take your bet, and I’ll raise it to a second case of beer if you can name me 20 combat-capable Air Forces which haven’t seen some sort of conflict. Obviously it would be quite difficult for an air arm solely equipped with a few Cessnas and a Bell206 to actually partake in combat ops, but there are who actually did (PNG or Nepal, for example).
Some countries I can think of, but not sure about all of them;
-Mongolia
-Tanzania
-Uruguay (mentioned already)
-Tunesia
I know that Mongolian air force aircraft fought against the Japanese in WWII, among them Polikarpov I-16s and Ilyushin Il-2s. Tanzania and Uganda apparently also had some border clashes, and Tanzanian aircraft were involved. Some I can think of immediately: Tonga, Seychelles, and Bhutan. Each of these countries’ armed forces in fact has an air component, as as far as I know none of them has been involved in any sort of conflict. Some other probables: Togo, Gambia, Papua New Guinea, Niger, Suriname, Guyana, and Equatorial Guinea. Others less likely, but still possible, include Cameroon, Iceland, and the Central African Republic. There are probably more as well. I guess it depends on what you call “combat history.”
Azeri Mi-8s
Any Azerbaijani Mi-8 Hip-E images?
Here’s one. Note the Azeri flag on the tail fin.
Royal Fiji Military Forces Boeing 707
A very, very rare Fijian military aircraft.
Who Knew?
Now I got something to smash ya down, folks !!!! Perhaps the most exotic air force here so far, the Transnistrian Air Force. Who has heard about trhat one before? 😉
Must confess I knew next to nothing about Transnistria prior to finding these pics but after diggin a while on wiki it looks like this is yet another ex-CIS breakaway republic
located within the borders of Moldova. Although not recognised internationally, it is a ‘real’ presidential republic with own parliament, constitution and military.I have found two helicopters in Transnistrian colors – one Mi-2 Hoplite and one Mi-8 Hip. I am still pretty baffled by such rarity 😀
The badge is just like their flag: red/green/red. So, who’s No.1? 😉
Absolutely astonishing- thanks! This is one of the most incredible finds of the entire small air forces thread so far, in my book. I guess my Maldivian Mi-8 model will just have to wait!
