Great pics. I was there Fri to Sun. Thanks for posting.
Thanks for posting and great LMAs.
The family watched and listened for years while hate was preached leading to the death and destruction of thousands of innocent people. They may even have enjoyed the limelight. It is not only the ones that “cast the real stones” that are to blame in hate crimes or terror but those who stand by and watch (family or friends).
The lack of local knowledge in dealing with similar debris is not surprising. The entire population of the world and the islands in the Indian Ocean have to be forgiven if they do not recognise aircraft fragments or debris and immediately relate it to MH370.
The important thing is to focus on what is found from now on and especially any baggage debris is vital as it will give an indication of possibly which flight the wreckage came from.
Let’s hope that this may be the biggest lead so far and that the expert investigators do their work safely, meticulously and accurately.
Here we go again as if there wasn’t enough on the extremist front in the world and right on my doorstep.
No time to bother with it though.
Hi Ralph,
Crazy and terrifying though it looks and seems it can happen on any flight:mad:, anywhere in the world if matches or a lighter get through without being identified at security screening.
Let’s be optimistic though.:D
Great pics. Thanks.
Still amazed as to how such a display is possible in such a fast jet with no FBW. Anyone care to offer any explanations.
What’s an FBW?
FBW is Fly By Wire https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fly-by-wire
Thanks for posting.
The last one of the F35 (mock up obviously) is quite interesting as it appears to be at the runway boundary with no tug.
I got the impression it didn’t like idling so they have to spool it up every minute or two…kind of like a classic car.
“Spool it up” it was like “Mega Spool it up” and drew the attention of most spectators to the taxi way rather than the runway and display in progress.
In fact some of us joked:highly_amused: saying that possibly some of the Diesel used for purely the Red Arrows smoke had been poured into the MIG29 tanks.
The display as the Saturday 18 You Tube (http://forum.keypublishing.com/showthread.php?135714-RIAT-Sun-19-MIG29-Finnish-A-F-What-was-theheavy-black-smoke-was-before-take-off&p=2242708#post2242708) was impressive on Sunday 19 as well after the “attention seeking waiting”.:D
Anyone know if the commentator’s comments on Sunday 19 were accurate in so much as he stated that there was no FBW on the MIG29 ?
Hardly, given that they don’t operate the type 😉
Poland does, though, and AFAIK the MiG-29 engines are known to be quite smokey.
Apologies I have corrected the country to Polish. My bad.:apologetic:
It wasn’t just smokey it was almost like it was on fire.
Did anyone see the same Mirage 2000N depart either later on Sun 19th or Mon 20th?
Did anyone see the same Mirage 2000N depart Fairford either later on Sun 19th or Mon 20th?
Or better still did anyone see it being fixed if they did in the open air?
On Saturday 18th they parked near the West end of the airfield (Green Gate entrance for RIAT)
The commentator also said birdstrike.
There were quite a few tannoy messages after that reminding people not to allow bags etc to blow across the runway – probably just co-incidental.
Ken
I did not hear the commentator remind people about bags ….; but that could be because I was too engrossed with watching the solo Mirage 2000N
Bird strike according to the R/T chatter.
I heard the commentator say that it was likely. I had no access to the R/T naturally.
