I watched some of the TV news coverage of the sentencing and my partner and I nearly burst out laughing at one mother defending her child. Her (11 year old?) son had been caught with a hammer taped to his leg wearing feature concealing clothing and was arrested in the middle of a riot. Her mother has protested that he and his family are now seen as scum and that her son was not involved in any of the rioting or looting (so he normally carries a hammer taped to his leg? :p )

Problem there is they cannot be sent back in some cases, they destroy their documentation or hide them when they arrive, you cannot deport someone back to a country when you do not know what country they come from, and no Country is going to accept them without documents to say they are one of theirs.

We have been there, and already tried / done that and they failed and were abandoned

With regards paid National Service for non convicted teenagers out of school – well wasn’t the abandoning when we slid down the slippery slope of PCness.

Re introducing it in the current failed PC world (not the store:rolleyes:) isn’t a bad thing. Just to bring in the discipline, work ethic, attendance, accountability all sadly lacking in homes and schools.

National service on no pay for convicted teenagers – but the report I quoted was for all teenagers to receive 5-6 weeks National Service and in my opinion the non convicted should serve a minimum of mandatory National Service to get the liberal creases of PC home life and school life out of their lazy systems, serve in the forces and then if capable be at Uni or start in gainful employment. (early to work, at work, accountability, discipline, etc)
