I’d love to see the classic BOAC livery as once applied to it’s 707’s on a few of the 744, 767 & 777 fleet. Also does anyone agree that a BA 757 in the old White Black and Red BEA livery as applied to the One elevens and Tridents would look stunning
Unlikely to happen but I’d like to see British Airways take over the sorry run-down mess that is offered byBMI on the Leeds Bradford to Heathrow Route (nothing too remarkable 5 or 6 flights each way with a 319). Even with the recession, I’m sure that with a reliable timetable and an aircraft accomodating a sensible number of passengers, it would generate enough passengers and yield (business/leisure, both point to point and interlining) to be viable.

Hi Nordjet 145,
According to the CAA G-INFO site she had completed 80941 hours as at 31/12/2007
Very nice photos there. I especially like the ones looking roughly east which have the power station towers in shot with that wonderfully watery early morning winter sunshine
Great photos there.
Really love the taxiing air malta A320 with the churches behind it. That really captures Malta for me!

Why the need to know – are you planning to fly with them?

Very nice shots Charlie,
Love the third one with the Jet2 733 in the flare, and the sky is of John Constable quality!

Thanks for your comments EGPH, it’s nice to know the postings are appreciated. The Adria A320 YU-AOA was delivered new in May 1989 so I’m guessing I took the photo that same summer.
The hostilities curtailed the services from 1991, although I understand Jet2 are putting back Dubrovnik onto the Leeds destinations list from summer 2009.
Sadly never saw any at LBA, which was about as far as I travelled in those days, did we ever get any? I can remember massive numbers of BA 111’s and 732’s when the fog took hold everywhere else sometimes, but presume the Tridents got in at MAN or BHX on their autoland
last few of the bunch…………………….
and a few more……………………..
Very Nice photos Stu,
Im sure it would look great in the old British United colours (which if I can remeber were white with a navy blue stripe down the windows and a navy blue tail) These often flew in and out of LBA to keep the Air Museums Yorkshire connection
Welcome Martin,
Very nice pictures. The Prop blades on the Electra look very “square” are they standard fit?
They haven’t confirmed anything else yet, no, but I don’t see a problem with having a bit of a debate about it. This is a ‘discussion’ forum, after all.

Paul,
I agree entirely, and your own comments are always well constructed, focused and balanced (much as with your photographs!), so no axe to grind with you.
However, I get depressed reading on this and similar forums, the anti Ryanair vitriol, unsubstantiated wild guesses at the financial status of airlines, Jet2 in particular, and the rather juvenile, uninformed, misspelt and badly punctuated posts that tend to predominate.
Sorry, rant over.
.
This is all becoming rather too much like a Sheffield football forum – Blades V Owls etc.
Have Ryanair actually confirmed anything for LBA as yet other than the Alicante and Gerona routes? If not, would it be better to reopen the debate if and when any new base or services are started (or at least announced), and we have had a chance to see how the two airlines go on to perform?
