Just a little point these are apparently worth between £45 to £160 depending on condition and packaging, but must be the first 3 series packaging (like mine) as the fourth season one’s are not worth a lot apparently.
Oddly contrailjj i bought this one on e bay from canada not from you was it ?

what a silly twit I’ve been for not buying that… now where did I put those ‘Dukes of Hazzard’ kits?…. its amazing to see the ‘investment’ side of things, but I’ve still got too much of a child’s inquisitive streak in me – have to get that kit home, opened up and checked out…
Maybe I’m wrong, but I was under the impression that the South African F.1s were upgraded in the early 90s. Regardless, personally I’d take 20 F.1s of any age over a handfull of used Alphas.
This is my ‘i will make it one day’, genuine 1984 AMT ERTL AIRWOL kit box is a bit ropey but kit is complete in the bag with all the instructions and decals.

good god someone actually bought one?!?! 😮 the sight of Ernest Borgnine’s cheesey grin and Jan Michael Vincent pouting/squinting through eyebrows put me off way back then (and still does today)
Steve… would you care to part with a couple of those Halifaxes??? I’ve got a lovely 1/48 Hercules thats looking for someone to love 😉 😀
Too young… to rember it what was it?
Blind Faith (self titled) – I’ve censored it… “for decency sake”
oh, this could be fun…
I hereby put forward my top three candidates for the ‘Most Likely to Remain Unbuilt’ award. It was a hard battle but these three stood out in the field of 90+ (all partially built or unbuilt – and the 20 or so under re-build)
I can’t even remember for sure when/where or WHY I got my hands on these.
thought about that myself – could always put on the little piece of ‘black tape’ for ‘decency sake’….
here’s a few previously mentioned and then some…
Elkie Brooks – Shooting Star
Budgie – Squawk
Night Ranger – Seven Wishes
Humble Pie – On To Victory
Ron Wood – 1234
Banshee … nice finds, just a quick correction for you..
Colombia is a source of some great and exoctic aircraft images. These AT-33As are photographed just after delivery to the FAC.
They are F-80s.
Contrailjj were you at the Airshow on Saturday?? You seem to have some good personal knowledge of these planes.
Cheers,
SG
Unfortunately, no… my airshow season has to be rather limited this year. The knowledge part just comes from soaking it all up since I was child – that and doing a lot of air show promotion work (posters, programs, ads) over the last 14 years.
The only one I have a record of is at Yao (eastern side of Osaka). It’s an Army airfield if I remember correctly and shares the airport with a General Aviation facility. Sorry, haven’t a clue how they are about photogs/spotters.
If you’re into Hercs, you can hop a ride up to Nagoya International Airport. Directly across the runway from the civilian terminal is Komaki AB – I passed through there a few years ago and the Komaki ramp seemed packed with Hercs – all in full view from the terminal.
oohhhh… this one…
What is to see there at Bien Hoa?!
10°58’21.78” N
106°49’20.18” E
Bien Hoa… currently only a non-descript twin prop transport rolling out on 09R…
Kei An (Hai Phong)… 6 MiG-21s on the ramp
Long Thanh (former US Army aviation base)… it doesn’t appear to have been used much but is currently slated for development into a large multi-runway international airport (sources quoting 2007 as construction start date)
the old airstrip at Can Tho doesn’t appear to be much more use than for supplying the local air defence regiment – 2 batteries occupying the ramp spaces (flowerlike layout)
Actually that would be Dave Tallichet’s B-17G masquerading as “Memphis Belle”. The original airframe is far from flyable!
T J
thanks, I wasn’t exactly certain on that – I knew it had been rebuilt from another version, just couldn’t remember which (and completely drew a blank on Tallichet’s name…)
Avro Lancaster B.X (x as in ten) (Victory aircraft, Malton Ontario)
Canadair CT-133 Silver Star
B-17F
Sopwith 1 1/2 Strutter (Great War Flying Museum, Brampton Ontario)
Hawker Sea Fury (Mr. Sandy Thompson – his personal run-about business aircraft)
Noi Bai… yes, MiG-21s… seen them myself… my first post linking to Richard Seaman’s site (he has a great shot of them in daylight in the shelters)
MiG-21s also at Da Nang (can’t see them on Google) but I saw and heard them in person.
If you zoom in on Tan Son Naht, you will to see numerous Antonovs, 7 Hercs, A C-47, an AC-119 and a CH-47.
Curiously at Noi Bai, there’s a USAF C-17 on the button awaiting take-off.
and now for more MiG-21s… just cross the border into Cambodia… I think I counted 17 on the ramp at Pochentong (Phnum Penh)
