Love the shots from Morocco – question…. regarding this shot… any info? They resemble and aerobatic team (or just painted that way?) If anyone has any info on this or any other Aerobatic teams please let me know – also available on my little thread – World Aerobatic Teams – help wanted
The blue one is curious – looks like a factory ‘house’ scheme similar to the later Patrouille de France and similar (minus the red accents) to the origial Israeli scheme.
Glad you like it! I doubt it’s available commercially, it was captured from TV probably in 97 or 98. If there is any specific part of it you want translated I’m sure I or someone else here who speaks the language could help.
More curious to see if they mention the name (and any relevant dates) of the Sabre team. Just amazing stuff

May i see these photos?
Saludos.
This is one fom the Salvadorean Air Force web site…
Similar ones can also be found if you take the Ilopango (more…) link at Jetphotos (the same Cuscatlan “dragon belly” link you sent me.

Here is a video about the history of the letece zvezde: istorija akrobatskog letenja u Yu.wmv
WOW!! – even double WOW! I’m going to have to increase my linguistics at this point. Even so – what an outstanding video – was it ever available commercially?

Personal National Pride
Well, since I’ve been asking you all for input – I’ll also share my own personal national favorite – our own Canadian Forces Snowbirds. 35 Years strong and still flying the same aircraft type.

Great site, pics, movie clips, wallpaper etc.
enjoy.

The “Escuadrilla Cuscatlan” started using the A-37s in 1988 and still does. They fly 5 A-37s, 4 in formation plus a Solo flown, since 1989 until now, by Colonel Salvador Palacios (actual FAS Commander).
Finally in last year’s Ilopango Air Show, they at least got painted a Dragon on their bellys: http://www.jetphotos.net/viewphoto.php?id=5703080

Milton,
Regarding the Ilopango Air Show last year… I’ve seen several photos of the MD500s (OH-6) with the brightly painted lead. Was this a trio put together for that show only? Its certainly a colourful beast.
James
I see what you mean – great clear shot of the logo too thank you very much.
So strange to put a stroke though the ‘0’ like that
Interesting note too – I was sifting through a few older shots and ‘250 was one of the specially painted ‘NATO Tigers’ years back – albeit with what looked more like a cheetah
Ive seen a couple other shots showing the Alphas in a six-ship formation – obviously in the last few years I’m guessing – were they flying as the ‘Asas’ or just a “flying Team’ sort of thing?
On another note… Rotores de Portugal… are they an offical or semi-official team? What kind of history have they got?
Oh yeah – she’s that much closer to final art now

Ah, good old boring eastern Ontario, Canada
I get a lot of civie contract flights overhead going into US Army Fort Drum
Regular stuff:
CH-146 Griffon (B412) once a week or so
CC-130 Herc (SAR flights usually) out of Trenton
The odd Seaking
CH149 Cormorant (EH101) SAR flights (occasionally)
And the Sikorsky CH148 Cyclone (our new Shipboard Heli) buzzed by a couple weeks ago
USCG HH-65 Dolphins on river patrol (more frequent in summer)
F-16C (very occasional – ‘Boys From Syracuse’) I miss the good old days when their A-10s would be running up and down the river almost weekly (usually in pairs or even 4s)
And for civie fans… the A380 trolled by at about 5000 ft between Montreal and Toronto after her cold weather tests up north
Sorry – nothing else really happens ’round here
James
It really looks an “8” in FAP’s website photos.
But if you have a chance to stand by the plane on the ground and look at it you’ll clearly notice that’s a “0”! A very odd “0” indeed, but definitely a “0”! 😀Of course, you should draw whatever you want!
I just thought you might be interested in doing things as they are and not as they seem to be. 😉Keep on the good work, anyway!
Abraços
Thanks again… I stand corrected
Time to double check the pics – I’ll bet there’s a funky little aerial or something catching the light just so… Not to worry she can be ‘250 by the time the drawing is done.
Milton,
Thanks for that, thats a great article… its good to see pieces of history fall into place or be put correctly. Thats certainly the most in-depth account i’ve read of “Escuadrilla Cuscatlan”

OK, slightly unrelated… but fun nonetheless These were all back in 2000.
Philippines AF T-33 – near/at Tarlac City PI – sorry about the fence – it had been raining for over a day and I was wet enough
Former USN A-5 Vigilante – Subic Bay PI – gotta love mini-golf and aviation
Former USN F-8 Crusader – Subic Bay PI – full Blue Angels colours (except the crest)
If only I managed to get there – the shots are by my buddy (doesn’t really know aircraft) He finds em and fires them to me (being the aerogeek that I am). My buddy is a civie contractor running logistics as part of the UN mandate.
I’ve got a few shots of my own from the Philippines and Vietnam (not the greatest shots but unique, like the “Blue Angels – paint job on the F-8 Crusader at Subic Bay, and the psychadelic A-5 Vigilante in the play park. I also got an interesting one while in Nha Trang from the roof of the hotel – Vietnamese Paras jumping from a Hip over the airport/base. I’ll did those babies out to share.

A bit more from Haiti…
Russian Hip and Argie UH-1
and a couple on the ground in Port au Prince…
Chilean Army Puma and Argentine Air Force B212 (Canadian civie Dash-7 in background) – Also have Russian ‘Hips’ – just have to dig them out of the files
Just to share thoughts… some of us older guys have ’em from time to time…
Flaggon – absolute Sex Kitten – especially top-side going fast
Lightning… and how!!! seeing those up ‘n down in burner? and that cranked leading edge???? she made the Phantom look like a wall-flower – how can anyone not call that sexy
Foxbat… Hendrix said it all.. Foxy lady – just the right curves and built for speed
and dont ever, ever forget our Arrow – OK, she never made production but ooooo
I had the joy of sitting back having a Heinken at dusk at Da Nang Airport a couple years ago and 3 ’21’s were screaming out in full burner – they turned and did 2 touch and goes each then away – of course the Camaera was already empty – the sound! – the sight – burner cones longer than the aircraft…mmmmm
Right, ‘nuf said for now
JJ
