Well the thread on UKAR now seems to have vanished too…
There was a new post this morning on UKAR asking where the Lightning thread has gone. Checked this afternoon and I can’t find that thread either.
Seems a shame as it was the posts about the QRA shed and the Lightnings that lead to me going to the Bruntingthorpe cold war jets days and this summer’s QRA day in the first place.
Have to say after the great show in may and the QRA day last weekend I think 15 pounds is a bargain.
Unfortunately I’m on holiday 30th of August so I won’t be able to make this one 🙁
I have to say I was quite irritated by the guy’s comments about it being a “shameful incident” and dealing “harshly with those responsible”. The guy needs to lighten up.
My Dad’s just texted me to say he’d seen a Spitfire with a red nose take off from Woodvale near Southport (lucky sod). Anyone know what it was doing there?
That looks pretty serious, right near the root of the wing. Any records of this happening before?
Heres another picture from a different angle:

If she’s going to Portrush on the 7th and 8th of September does that rule out an appearance at the Southport airshow the same weekend? Southport’s the only other airshow I can get to this year and I was kind of looking forward to the sight of the Vulcan swooping of the sand dunes 🙂
I’ve just arrived back from totterdown farm where I’ve been camping since thursday night and I can assure you the conditions are terrible. It was so muddy we were very lucky to get our car out. My wife and i were booked in to stay there tonight as well but we’d had enough. We were only told over the radio today was cancelled and our saturday tickets could not be used at about 8 oclock last night.
The only consolation was that we saw the F22 practicing yesterday afternoon and it was incredible. Hope those of you going tomorrow get in.
Unfortunately my shaky Youtube videos of the display don’t do it justice but here they are anyway…
Looks like she’s flying today. The Vulcams show the hangar doors are open and lots of activity around the plane 🙂
Signed, not sure if it’ll make much difference though.
I’m sure I heard some company called Qinetic (or something like that) had a Jaguar for tests. Is that still flying?
Edit: The company was called QinetiQ and no the Jaguar isn’t flying anymore:

Thanks for the link to the video Lincoln. Looked like they put on quite a show today.
Another video has been posted of the takeoff, and it’s a beauty. Many thanks to the guy who took it.

Also hope I’m not treading on anyone’s toes by putting a link to the video here. Let me know if I am and I’ll remove it.
Sounds great, I wish I’d seen it. I’m hoping some videos of the flight will pop up on youtube soon. Well done to everyone involved. Fingers crossed for Waddington and beyond then 🙂
Here’s the highlights from the BBC website:

By the way, great pictures steven_wh.
Here’s a couple of (shaky) vids I didn’t have the chance to add earlier. It was whilst watching the Buccaneers that I got the main soaking of the day, but it was worth it 🙂
This was my first trip to Bruntingthorpe and I have to say it was a really good day despite the rain. It was my birthday as well which made it just that bit more special.
Thanks to everyone involved 🙂
For me the highlights were the Buccaneers, and the Lightning, although all the other aircraft were pretty spectacular as well.
The biggest surprise was when me and the missus were stood by the Burger van and saw the Lighting taxiing right past us. I never realised you could get that close to the planes.
Anyway here’s a few (shaky) videos I took on the day:
