And the text just say: (you)Be strong!
There also was an interface problem between the Alamo Missile (AA-10) and the fire control systems of Russian design aircraft.
Source?
In almost all these cases, the Soviet designed aircraft never fired a missile at the head-on charging American designed aircraft.
It’s easy to forget under what cirumstances the serbian fighters were operating.
Had the Cold War gone hot in 1989, there would have been the #500+ F-14A’s, #1,000+ F-15C’s, #2,500+ F-16C’s (for NATO) and, #500+ F/A-18A’s of American air forces that would provided a large percentage of NATO air forces.
Allready discused before, and found that your numbers are totally wrong.
Riiiight. The far better avionics in the F-15 couldn’t have had anything to do with the success of the F-15.
He just said that.Vanilla MiG-29 against more advanced F-15.
Might want to do your fact checking a bit better. In the E and E war, one side had experienced Ukrainian maintainers and the other experienced Russian maintainers. If they can’t do it no one can.
Today’s RuTech BVR is probably a very very serious threat. However looking back at the old days just doesn’t seem to hold up. For them other tech was very good, i.e. the helmet heater R-73 etc.
Well,Trident, sealordlawrence and Nick allready gave their views, similar to mine.Just to add.In one article it was said that the missiles suffered damage, when they were transported.
Also few of the battles were done by very skilled foreign pilots, and then it’s no wonder that they manage to survive the first attack, and end all in a dogfight.
The Su-35 video shows both the R-27 and R-77. There has to be a reason for that.
Maybe that there is long range IR missile?
In order for BVR to be useful it has to actually work. My point being is the system couldn’t even make R-27 work later in the E and E war… RuTech BVR up to that point in fighter v fighter = useless.
Making such assumptions based on a conflict between two nations that don’t maintenance and use their planes and missiles the proper way is just not right. You use this example only because it suits your view.
Yes, use the Mi-26 to insert/retrieve special ops personelle, subtle. Do you want to fit flashing neon signs on it as well just in case anyone misses you?
Well, the russians use it for more than a decade in their operation in Chechen region. But the bad side is that even one shoot down with manpad result in more than 30 deaths.
So…you both didn’t see that the thread is 3+ years old?
Seven years ago I had calculated VLA plane simplified flutter criteria….
That explains all 🙂 .Because i saw that you are from Poland and wondered why you find all these convertions easy.Maybe after some practice i to will get used to it.
The derivatives, which are the really interesting part of the document, are the truly interesting content. Where else do you find drag data over Mach number for fighter-like aircraft?
Yeah i know that, and i allready thanked you.
I mean something else. When i look at this graphs, they are not so easy to “feel”.Just one graph can require atleast 3-4 unit conversions.Just an example.
Here nothing “tells” to me:this is high(value),this is low, this is far/close….after 5 conversion i can understand to some extent the scheme.
IMHO pounds, feet, inches, etc. are very easy to calculate to kilograms, metres and milimetres.
What about Slug-Foot²?Or Pound-Inch/Second?
Yes, i can convert foot, pounds.. to meter, kg easily without need for online convertor, but if there is need for 5(as in the example)more complex conversions?I must search in more than 300 measurement units, then choose the required unit in wich the result will be,type the value and copy the result, then again search in 300…It’s not that simple as foot-to-meter.For Pound-Inch/Second to Kilogram-Meter/Second i must multiply by 0.01152125
Still it is good source for rare info.
Thank for the material.
Not really useful without engineering degree.
During my education we used only SI system, and we were told that it is the only measuring system that should be used. The fact that here is used imperial system, makes it very hard to understand.
Nice post Arthur.Btw i’m from bulgaria and our last names end with -ov.For example i’m Diankov.
The funny thing is that ELP cry in every thread how short the weapon budget is,and now they are developing M6 plane.
Many misunderstandings come from the disability of some media (and euphoric people) to separate between a low-scale study and a full rate production or at least test program. I would only start talking of an aircraft if the approved budget is at least 8-digit (in 2007 USD), if the term “supersonic” appears somewhere add a digit.
Second that.
On 31 Aug 1981 C. L. “Kelly” Johnson announced that the SR-71 (class) has had over 1000 missiles launches against it, but none successful
Noise for the public.Considering the fact that the plane was never against something from the S-300 family.
One of my ex-colleagues have few such photos from the Soviet war in Afganistan.Too bad i can’t contact him now.
the SH block 2 is far more survivable than than f15 due to its smaller RCS
With all the weapons hanging under the wings?
And could someone with greater knowledge compare the acceleration/cruise/top speed. This also is very important for survival.
Кабина Су-27СМ. Тренажер принимал участие в съемках фильма “Зеркальные войны”. У него на борту еще номер остался 801
Cockpit of Su-27SM.The trainer participate in the shoot of the movie “Mirror wars”.On the trainer there is still the number 801.
Let the political bashing begin!
Apart from bomb scenes the video was crap.
