Even contracts can be worth less than the paper they are written on, friend working on a contract with what appeared to be a growing prosperous company, stage payments met on time no apparent problems, some extra jobs added in to the contract, job finished, last and largest payment not forthcoming as the company goes into administration and subsequent bankruptcy, surprise, surprise when the dust settled the company was bought up by a family member and no debts from the previous company got paid.

As far as what made me angry today, was reading about yet another child killed by a big dog, I know the family had no indication that this dog could act in this way, but why, why why do people feel the need to bring any huge dog into their home?.

Every dog has the potential to attack, the bigger the dog the more likelihood of serious injury or as in this case death.

Mitchell was sacked from his government job, but merely stepped into another position which on the surface actually pays better, of course he will have lost the gold plated expense account which is probably the biggest loss.

I am not excusing or condoning the police officers and as I made fairly clear the police do not have the greatest trust rating anyway, but there is an awful lot of fuss over a relatively minor issue which could have been sorted much quicker and simpler.

Mitchell clearly not Mr Nice Guy, the police officers used their position to take hin down a peg, both sides totally wrong, if this had been a car accident it would have been a 50/50 on claims, but both sides still trying to point score the saga rumbles on.

Those who try to say that this is a major cause of loss of trust in the police, frankly a politician is small beer compared to lies and fraud regarding Hillsborough for instance, much is being made of this in an attempt to whitewash Mitchell, that won’t work either.

The whole thing will probably rumble on for a few years and governments, then at one election or another the incoming government will cancel the whole thing on cost grounds claiming to save the taxpayer £gazillions, conveniently forgetting of course that treble that sum has already been spent with nothing to show worth mentioning.

I doubt very much that anyone would wish to exchange seats with him after the”evacuation”, imagine seating over a seething volcanic pit of effluent hoping like hell that the rest of the flight is incredibly smooth.

The police officers should have simply reported Mitchell for what he did say and his attitude, the mistake was gilding the lily and making Mitchell’s actions to be worse than they actually were.

Clearly Mitchell is an obnoxious little prat to demand that the double gates and barrier all be opened just so that he could ride his pushbike through, equally obviously he had words with the police officers which he did not wish to disclose to the public. Remember he has only denied using the word “pleb”, he has not denied swearing at the officers, quite frankly he is entitled to nothing, sadly the police officers involved have also let themselves and colleagues down as well and have little sympathy for their subsequent actions and statements.

The officers should have cautioned and booked the little toe rag for using foul language and left it at that.

Incidentally the police officers on the gates are part of security, they are not lackeys or door openers for over blown politicians.

Cash is viewed at times with suspicion now, turn up at the bank with a bag full of money and the staff will probably call the cops, unless they know you fairly well and are in some business were cash is still the usual currency.

Many of our former coal-fired power-stations are using a percentage of waste ‘wood-chippings’ as part of their commitment to renewable energy!

That’s the story, the reality is, Drax for instance is set to import millions of tons of pelleted wood from the the USA, this wood is from timber felled only for this purpose, the greenies would have us believe that this process is carbon neutral, because they claim that the felled areas will all be replanted and the growing trees will reabsorb all the carbon released by burning this wood.

Curiously the pelleting process and transportation of this wood must somehow not require any energy which involves releasing carbon, equally in the areas where this tree felling is to take place environmentalists are not best pleased by the destruction of old woodlands which have only survived because the trees left were not suitable for other uses.

We couldn’t grow enough wood on this island to supply Drax on it’s own and that would mean using every scrap of timber produced, not just the offcuts, the shredded wood from contractors may be used in power stations, but will certainly not keep the furnaces lit.
