Thanks Papa Lima – that’s much appreciated.
Hey TT
Why don’t you try on the WIX board? If it’s US i’m sure someone there will let you know in quick time.
I went to an aircobra crash site in the pacific a few years ago – it had steel prop blades. The hub looks american to me – similar to the two blades props used on Harvards.
All the swordfish props i’ve ever seen appear to be cast out of one piece of metal – not my area at all, but I thought i’d mention it…
Peter Rutter once told me that while he was in service, some character actually looped a Whitley. I’m inclined to take this with a pinch of salt though – we will probably never know 🙂
Thanks Anne
Thanks for the mention Cees. Things are really hotting up now with the Whitley. We hope that 2005 will be a very good year for the project!
If you can turn anything up we will be very grateful indeed.
Cheers
That’s a fair point Craig, but what is important is that the aircraft are flying – I think the name is academic really.
I was not being funny but why call it the bbmf should they not rename it to the royal airforce memorial flight to avoid confusion because they did NOT USE a lancaster or a dakota in the battle of britain yet the bbmf operate both these aircraft
Thanks Bruce
I’ll drop you an email.
Cheers
Fairey Battle?
Hello,
Last week I received 2 photographs from an old man who made them in August 1940. He told me that this France? aircraft was shot down during the German invasion of the low countries. Is there anyone who can tell us what type of aircraft it was?
best regards,
Mathieu
That’s a fascinating story – never heard it before. Would love to see what’s inside those files…
I am sure this has been posted here before , but I came across it tonight reading the link from another post…very interesting story on stolen Hurricane. Glad the traitor faced justice in the end !
