Really? Wow that’s a surprise Cees. It’s pretty massive – about 3-4 times bigger than a whitley flap jack.

I agree about the taildragger bit. That’s why a flying boat makes sense. 340 Gal is a lot. Also, the Air Ministry number is an early one – pre-war I would say.

Just a wee bump to say that the rear turret from this Whitley apparently came to light in a garage in the Glasgow area fairly recently…. I understand the Dumfries & Galloway Museum were involved.

Thanks guys – Gary, I am writing an article for FlyPast and i’m looking for an account or more detail regarding the recovery of parts from Whitley N1498 from Carn A’Chorie Mhoir near Inverness circa 1977. I did find an photocopy of a 1981 FlyPast article – there are several photos of Whitley wreckage in situ, credited to you.

Are the Morayvia team related to the Kinloss Aviation Society?

Hey guys – I just recieved the missing piece of the jigsaw from Stuart H in Scotland. I now have enough of the type 3 housing to make up some reproductions. These would be correct for the Whitley, Halifax, Stirling and as far as I know the Wellington too.

Just wonder what the interest would be?
