Hi Laurence – it’s a Blenheim. I would think that some of the surrounding circumstantial details are probably wrong. Are there any pictures of the wreck site?
Those are not Halifax numbers guys. Ian, one suggestion would be to gently go over the stamps with a fine rotary wire brush (dremel) or lightly with wire wool. It will help bring out the relief – it does work – I have done it many times.
That’s a genius idea Bob. I can offer machining skills. Hopefully soon I can offer electroplating too. The main problem is I am a bit too busy to do any right now, but things change.
I have quite a strong interest in this Spitfire (L1083) and in fact have some pieces from it. It seems there is nothing left at the crash site now. I’d be very interested in finding more parts from it – I do not know where they went, but would like to know very much!
