While it doesn`t conform to the standard kings crown shape, it is often seen on wartime equipment, it is just a more stylised version. My friends and I all have equipment in our collections with this type of crown on. It is seen on all sorts of equipment from Mae West`s to Harmessuits, parachute equipment and furniture to name but a few.
‘Auction ended because the item was lost or broken’. That’s a bit odd…
It doesn’t look like a wartime George VI crown to me Bananasplits
The crown on this 1941 life jacket bladder looks a bit odd to me. Anyone else think the crown looks post war?

I was on the cliffs yesterday too – really fantastic view of the Vulcan and Blenheim. I think it’s the best place to watch by a mile.
ISS relates to ‘issue’. The security service bit is a red herring!
Thanks Dave
You are a true gent
Thanks Tony and Ross anyway. Looks like a trip to the National Archives is in order.
As far as I can see that is just a list of manuals Tony, I don’t think you can download the manual from that site. I did look already.
Interesting it was cut down. Maybe a mod.
Impressive progress and fast too! Which Barra is the centre section from?
Are there any other AH numbers on the wheels? Sometimes there are several different numbers. I don’t recognise AH7270.
I agree Jack Windsor with your ‘what a generation, we were truly blessed..’ although I do think that if the chips were down, with the generation today, then there would be those who would still give us cause to say: ‘what a generation, we were truly blessed..’
Let’s hope we never have to find out Andy
It looks like a Bowden control lever. Classic use would be for the safety harness release. I’ll check when I get home.
Put something in the local paper, get them to run a piece on the project and put out an appeal. I’m sure you won’t be disapointed.
Let’s hope the missing parts are found. While not a mortal blow to a project, their loss is a major problem to say the least.
