Spitfire spares is the last place I would go for a sensible valuation. That said, it’s been a while since I bought a Browning. I paid £300 for one on the open market about 10 years ago.
There was a plastic Spit and Hurricane in St James’ park yesterday
Good luck with that sale. It would be interesting to learn more about the previous owner…
As a former member of CARG ( way back in the early days) and one who was instrumental in collecting some of the Aston Down ‘stash’, what became of the Lanc DV panel?
ISTR we had in the CARG store at the same time a P51B side window, which was rescued from a certain Wiltshire scrap yard.
Is the ‘other’ Halifax column the one that changed hands in a Norfolk auction a few years back?
Yes Geoff – that’s the one.
Windhover
The Halifax column on Craigslist belonged to me – it is pictured on my carpet at home. It was sold on ebay a few years ago and went to a genuine collector in the US. Someone has taken the picture off ebay and the rest is history. I did try contacting the seller on Craigslist. I got his number but he told me there was no point ringing him as he had just had some dental work done and could not speak!
Well worth avoiding that one…
There are rumoured to be a number of fairly substantial Maryland wrecks lying in the depths of the Libyan desert. Given the situation in Libya, I’m not surprised that there is no appetite to go looking for them at the moment.
I don’t see any correlation between any potential recovery of this wreck and the Do17. The latter was thought to be much better than it turned out to be, and was worth the risk given its rarity. Hindsight is rarely very much use.
Which rumour is this WebPilot?
Any chance of some pics please? Great news and good luck to you all.
Was it a Canadian Lanc Peter?
Thank you for the input so far, to answer a few questions.
I had puchased this panel at Brenzett.(Vacb) interesting that may be from a Turret, good point reference Mosquito.
(Bruce) I was also thinking along the lines of a possible bomber. as majority of fighters if not all had a different set up for the Gyro Dimmer selector.
Hi Whitley i wasnt looking to sell the unit as quite facinated by it, as never seen one like it before.
Ref Stirling (Peter) i will try and look down this avenue..
So at least i can cross of the Mosquito..
Again thank you for your above replys.
No, I’m not interested in buying, just wondering if you sell relics on ebay. The red background looks very familiar.
It’s a gate for a lever, but i’m afraid the number isn’t in either of my mk 5 or mk 7 parts catalogues. Most likely Albemarle…!
Hi Bob – i’m out and about right now but will check for you this afternoon
That red background looks familiar. Are you selling on ebay by any chance?
I couldn’t make it as I had to work sadly. Still there now… Any bargains or interesting bits today? Hopefully the weather was good. At least I went last year.
Given the condition of the parts Peter I think wire wool will be just fine
Yes, the bigger piece is very likely to have a number. Wire wool is very good at bringing out almost invisible numbers.
