Wow – that was amazing. I completely agree about his memory.
Well done Alex – a real masterpice and doublely difficult to do to a high standard as there is very little available information. This is a great acheivement! I would love to see you make a Hampden next!
Thanks Ross
As far as I know the Heinkel and Blenhein came down on the beach itself. Do you know which blenheim it was?
Thanks in advance
You’ll enjoy it Cees – there is a lot to see. Try to organise a dive you can – there are some good aircraft wrecks
It’s common for ditched aircraft to end up upside down. Another odd phenomenon is their u/c legs often end up in the extended position – maybe related to later failure of the uplocks, but no-one has ever given a very satisfactory explanation for this. The ‘reluctant messerschmitt’ salvaged off Dymchurch in the 70’s and a Whitley also off Dymchurch both ditched nomally and both ended up in this configuration as have others.
Tony, Hi,
You have to keep a healthy armour of cynicism in order to stop the purveyors of bullshine (either deliberately, or accidentally) from scoring a hit โ as has been seen elsewhere fairly recently!
At the end of the day, it would be nice if all the planning and hard work pays off โ but it is neither here nor there if it fails. Moreover, if it all falls apart as it is lifted (remember when the โMary Roseโ was lifted?) then some clown will, no doubt, try to sue the RAFM for depositing excess metal fragments in the breeding ground of some rare species of creature.
Me, I prefer to wear my vanadium knickers of cynicism. Makes you look less of a prat on more than 50% of occasions. These days that equates to a Score Draw!!
Resmoroh
I truely pity you
Done – I’m not sure what kind of radius outside Munster you are looking for but I have three in the immediate area plus many, many more. Tons along the Dutch-German border – maybe about 20.
Hi Simon
I can probably get you a list of Whitleys if that’s of interest to you
Fantastic this has started. Hopefully the start of a great summer…
Ivor – for an answer try over on the EU war relics forum http://www.warrelics.eu/forum/battlefield-archaeology/
Hopefully you’ll get your answer in a few hours ๐
Doesn’t Bob Tricket have a bit of Tiffie control surface?
That deep drawn seat pan looks American to me Jason. Have you tried on WIX yet?
Very interesting news Cees. Can you tell us any more?
Well spotted Ian. Is this the same seller who has been selling bits of the sandwich flats dornier 17? To my knowledge this wreck has never been found (i’ve been searching for it for over 20 years). Those bits are more than likely from the B17 that came down nearby.
That’s a good find Anon! I suggest you contact Anneorac – he is probably best placed to ID this for you.
