The suppresor cuts down electrical interence – they are usually mounted in the engine nacelle/firewall area. Hope that helps.

The first bit looks a bit like the end of a BTH compressor. Hard to say for sure as I don’t have one to hand! Someone here should be able to say either way.

Any plans to re-dig it? Might be worth your while.
