Newforest – I’m afraid your wrong on both accounts there! Al-Tameer Co. Ltd. was a former operator of HZ-SKI. Now it’s operated by Twinjet Ltd. and available for charter, and when flying carries African Presidents etc. They also operate an A319CJ G-NMAK, which unfortunately never visits Southend for maintenance.

Thanks a lot for the rest of your comments, It’s such a shame that variety is being lost from the skies. However nice the E-Jets are for example, they’re a lot more boring than the good old 146. At least there is variety in the few and far between movements at Southend!

Thanks, there certainly can be some great movements at Southend, it’s juts a shame they are few and far between.

Thanks again for your comments. As far as I’m aware the 2 pilot 727 cockpit never came about. I believe that some cargo 727s have a cockpit mod with a hybrid glass cockpit such as on the 737 classics.
It’s very difficult to know who the 727s actually fly for. Most of them seem to spend a lot of time around the Middle East.

Thanks for all of your comments.
I will try and get some photos of the 748s and the 146s on the north side of the airport, but they’re not all in very photogenic positions.
The 727 has indeed got the Valsan engine mods, along with I’m sure a lot of other upgrades since it rolled off the production line. This is a late model, being built in 1982.
I hope now to bring more photos from SEN as the place is developing massively. Once easyJet start next year the place will be entirely different. Certainly a long way from the days of the Cravair which MSR777 mentioned!
