Well, it was my third year of suffering from this aviation bug and certanly the best airshow season yet! A big highlight is (obviously) a cracking Shuttleworth season. I think I made all but 2 as well as Robbo and am feeling sanguine enough to forgive them the occasional funny choice of commentator……
I also made my first trip to Chailey, Shoreham and Biggin and had a great time at all – Legends was quite spectacular as well. And I’m making plans to get to some new venues next season as well. No, I’m not hooked. I could give it all up tomorrow….. No RIAT as yet, maybe next year.
Stumbling across this forum was pretty much a highlight as well. I’m looking forward to meeting up with some of you in due course.
Having said that – I must admit it will be nice to get a few free weekends – if only to get time to finish cataloguing pics and get my airshow pages updated. And of course getting the chance to visit a few museums – Tangmere this weekend and hopefully Cosford sometime over half term for starters.
Regards.

Fantastic shots, really top rate.
Well, there was an awful lot of empty concrete in the static park – I remember that being a critisism of last year’s events as well. I thought it was a good display which could have been excellent but for the weather. Some nice touches – the Avenger pilot made a point of taxiing to the crowd side of the runway before take-off so that we could get a good view of his aircraft. Little things like that do make a difference. No BBMF and no Hunter – but that was again due to the weather and I think the organisers coped well. The Sea Hawk and Sea Fury made the day – as far as I was concerned it was well worth the 250 mile round trip. I’m not sure what else was missed out as I never buy a programme there (very little information unless you want to join up) but it was an enjoyable show.

Lovely shots – thanks for posting. The Dornier landing with the windmill in the background was a nice touch

To brycheiniog & Maarvin, Good shots of ‘our’ Spitfire PR Mk19, could I copy them for my records please??
We waited all morning at Lynham to launch for Yeovilton,Got to Filton Hangar at 08.00 picked up gear for Daily Inspection, drove to Lynham, dispatched Mk19 at 14.20 drove back to Filton, recovered Mk19 carried out post flight check on aircraft, got home about 17.30, a good day! It sounds like it was worth it!
Cheers………………
It was a nice display – even more appreciated after the rain. Many thanks for all the efforts. No problem about the pic, I’ll have a look and see what else I’ve got. Expect a PM.
Regards.

Lovely pictures everyone. I braved the weather as well and at one point seriously wished I hadn’t. However, the Sea Fury and Sea Hawk were well worth the milage 😀
Highlights? Well, obviously the Hawk and the Fury. The Fox Moth was up in some of the worst of the conditions and gets my bravery award. Andy Sephton gave a polished display in the RR Spit, and Alister Key was very impressive in Ferocious Frankie.
And, although it didn’t display, it was nice to see a Grumman Avenger with a turret (no offence to Tony Haig-Thomas)
Some of my efforts…..
PM sent to you….

Many Happy Returns!
Great. Maarvin’s off to Yeovilton 😀
Thanks very much for the information.
