Another photo from the same source, this is Abbotsinch in the 60’s, is this a scrapyard or a very poor parking job ? Keith.

AA, I have this from a website related to Coventry (Baginton) airport, you may know all of this already ?

    http://i261.photobucket.com/albums/ii58/keithnewsome/gwt1.jpg

G-AGWT Miles M.7A Nighthawk was purchased by Brian McAllister for a flight to Kenya during 1962, the aircraft was abandoned in southern France at Marseilles (Marigname) airport, being sold for scrap at Lignane, five miles from Aix-en-Provence in June 1965 following seizure.
This aircraft was no stranger to Baginton, having been entered in the 1954 Kings cup air race by P.V. Lovett-Campbell, who did in fact take her to Kenya and register her as VP-KMM.

G-AGWT seen here just before scrapping at Lignane on 29th June 1965, this aircraft was seized by the authorities at Mareilles (Marigname) airport after its flight from Baginton in 1965 on its way to Kenya, the colourscheme was pale grey with a white decking and red spinner.

Excellent post Gary, Although I am no expert on these matters, your last two entries re. G-APAU & G-APAV.
I was looking at the website below, found an article on Midland Air Cargo, which says they were scrapped at Coventry ???

So I was not the only one there ! Good photos Nashio966, as you say shame about the weather, big “hats off” to all involved, or should that be “hats on” ?
I was pleasently surprised by the turnout, possibly not what was expected, but taking the weather into account I hope it was enough to cover costs etc.
So for those who stayed home inthe warm and dry just look how close we got to lovely old aircraft ! Low quality shots first ??? Keith

Just a quick question, prior to my first ever visit to Bruntingthorpe tomorrow,
will there be any actual flying ? Is it worth bringing binoculars ? or just a camera and a happy face ? Keith.

Jamie, I have spent far too long looking into this mystery photo ! I have looked in depth at the viscount.net site, and , despite the dates being wrong, I wonder if the answer lies within that very good website, allow me to explain my dubious theory !
Apart from the overall colour scheme, the only giveaway in the pic, is the logo / badge position ? having searched every one of their pics the only viscount found with a logo in that position (seemingly different to the rest of the fleet) is D-ANEF c/n 343 of Lufthansa ????
If you go into their website and search for photos by construction number 343, it will give you 8 photos, one dated 1966 at LHR, shows the logo in this position and other photos show its fate, being purchased by Airwork Services and crashed, possibly on delivery, at Hurn, recorded as beyond repair !
My theory (or imagination) goes on to think was the fuselage “boated” to Felixstowe for onward delivery to a fairly local scrapyard (stock) ????
I am prepared to be “shot down” on this ! Keith.
