Thank you for that confirmation “Wicked Willet”. So the “defragmentation” of my memory is slower than I thought, I think ? Keith.
Ah turbulant memories, I seem to remember seeing several at Redhill in the early 60’s ? was this the home of the tiger club ? It seemed to me that all turbulants in those days had a “Z” in their registration, was this coincidence or planned or what ? Keith.
Between fuse’s 116 and 118 ? Or in the No 6 distribution board just aft of the forward footwell !!!! I may be a good electrician but (as you can see) know nothing about aircraft ???? Keith ….. haha.
Avro 685 York from Duxford …… It’s almost there ….. ?

Horsham St Faiths is now called “Norwich International Airport” and I can assure Anark et al, there are still plenty of “goings on” going on ! Keith.
Notice a 100E and 105E together, must be a ford reliability run, being that far from Dagenham !!! haha

Lindy’s Lad,It’s so nice to hear someone speaking in a positive mode. Thank you. Keith.
Yes thank you for those memories, seems like yesterday, was it ???? Keith.
Thank you, Mollusc, for that defence of me, it had me jumping all over the “net” comparing all with my pic below ?????? Keith

Welcome Mollusc, We have two airframes here, as you know, the upper one could well be the AW 55 APOLLO, the aerial array on top and overall length look good (this will possibly be challanged).
The lower one “should be the AVRO ASHTON, now at Newark, but I find a window in the forward door missing, and the external hinges on that door are not correct, having said that, this was used, at Farnborough, for water tank presurisation tests, so any “mods” would be related to that ! I fully expect to get shot down on this ? but hey thats the nature of this beast ! Keith.
DonClark, Thank you for those links, have read and understand more.
Seemed a very dangerous practise, but saved lives, and aircraft.
Just think what health and safety would say today ????
450.000 litres per hour at 2008 costs = £472,500 per hour at pump prices !!!
Keith.
Please excuse my ignorance, but could some nice person explain, in laymans terms, what exactly is / was FIDO. My reason for asking is that as a young man busily engaged in installing runway lighting systems etc, all of the older people I worked with were often talking of this, but never explained what it was ???? Keith.
Nice pics “tartan pics” Thats spooky, on friday at 11.56. 3 “other helios” and 2 chinooks flew low over my house in Norwich ? could these have been the very same I wonder ? Keith
