[QUOTE=Duggy;2309414]Some photo’s taken back in the day, by US servicemen.
An English pub lends its friendly congenial atmosphere to ground crew men who toss down a few ales with the local barkeeper.(location unknown)
That looks like a Woodman Inn, Nuthampstead picture to me relating to when the 55th FG and their P-38’s were there.
I’m sure I’ve seen it there in years past.
I cannot find this already posted anywhere on here.
No.28 Squadron OCU celebrate their centenary and new hangar facility, with a centenary parade and new Chinook and Puma centenary schemes. The Chinook scheme is particularly interesting.

Great stuff!
I want a Yellow 10 shirt, too!
If you ask billy nicely, he may let you have his!!!!!!!!! NOT!
WHO are notorious for plagiarizing other sources, often well out of date, and rehashing it under their own byline as ‘news’
I’m with you on this and is the reason I don’t look at anything that I can see with their name on or attached to it!
Listening to a senior member of ARCo a couple of weeks back, his view was the aircraft would be out of action for two years. (He was talking in the pub to an audience!) Major task is to re-spar the tailplane.
The material for this is already on site and has been for some time…………………as I believe!!
I also have some ammo tracking like that which was dug up. It’s not the most common of three types that the americans used.
Spencer Flack was NOT the pilot who ran G-AGHB/WH589 out of fuel in Germany in 1979.
Why does the name Mike Searle keep flashing up in my mind? I’m sure he was associated with a Sea Fury incident somewhere?
This wreck has been known of for some years.
Bob T.
It’s been doing the rounds on all sorts of other forms of media this time round for quite some days now too………unfortunately repeatedly so, as do many other stories.
This one seems to originate from BBC South East not WW2AERO. Plagiarism at its finest.
Looks like Korey Wells in the cockpit
It is!
John Dodds is there too.
Sorry there’s no soundtrack!
Well there is one place it can be heard.
Unfortunately it is only available on facebook, but it does sound great!

I seem to recall the BBMF will not fly in formation with none ex military civilian pilots, I wonder why that is..??
I will leave you to figure that out..
Although some while ago now but the lanc has flown in formation with Sally B and Pink Lady together and on another occasion with Sally B on her own.
On either occasion I believe it was with civilian pilots that were not ex military.
If the writer of the article could have got his facts right. AIM-6 Sidewinders. Really.
Some of what I was thinking!
I like the supposed F-86 picture showing it releasing missiles, but it looks more like a Mig 17 to me?
Then one of the dogfighting pictures between his F-86 shows what looks like a Mig 15?
I love this line though “The back pair of Hawker Hunters, hearing the sound of their impending doom breathing down their necks” meant they must all have been sharing the R/T, so that they could hear him screaming “Banzai” in his microphone as he came in from behind!
I like Canopener Al’s link.
Val Kilmer has most likely the correct response to such a claim.

I am fortunate in that Alan is a good personal friend of mine and he has been involved in many epic films along the way.
He is currently helping me with a little project right now.
he has written a great book about some of his film experiences with a very self explanatory title called “Stars and Wars”, ISBN 978 0 7509 5617 8 published by The History Press at £25.00.
I will quietly ask him if he has any other BofB film bits although needless to say, the BofB is one of the films featured in the book.
Fantastic!
They did a really great job and explained things clearly and eloquently.
The Jet Age Museum should be rightfully proud that they have helped those of our youngest generations, not only learn about such things for themselves, but helped them in a way that they have created something to help others understand too.
Brilliant that they got two of ‘Rosie’s finest’, to help them along as well.
Congrats all round if you ask me! :applause:
What type please?
Did you mean to spell Croyden as opposed to Croydon, especially as your picture shows the unmistakeable Croydon Airport terminal building?
Yes it is…………..for now
Ahhh you’ll be needing a bigger garage then!
