Its great to here its possible this Me109 will bless our Airshow curcuit here in 2006, She will be most welcome and undoubted be the star of many shows, She will be treated well here like ALL our warbirds are.
I did not know that Ed Russell had only let UK based pilots fly his Warbirds so far i think that is a fine testament to the skills of our pilots here and proves that the owner trusts the pilots.

I find the comment that in the UK Warbirds are flown like Pitts Specialsa bit offensive , Yes they loop but its flying using energy management i.e Speed for height, Height for speed, Its certainly not Spitfires doing Hammerhead turns(Thats a comment i’d expect by a uneducated journalist in some cheap newspaper really, Not from a fan of Warbirds).
Yes we have had accidents with Warbirds here, But 2004 went without any fatality involving a Warbird here at a Airshow and 2005 has been accident free until now and i hope and pray the season will end this way also, Sadly in the USA some accidents have happened, Its a sad fact of life, Accidents happen,Some will be pilot errors some mechanical failures some will be due to other things we can not control such as weather etc.

Lets get back to the story at hand though the prospect of a Me109 on the curcuit here next year its a dream waiting to come true i think.

Even the web site manages to call him a ‘stunt pilot’

    🙁

    Sad news

    Moggy

I echo you sad new comment and really hate this so called “Stunt Pilot” tag that any accident involving a warbird seems to come with its so wrong.

nope, whats the betting that Richard Branson will try and buy them and make them comercially viable :diablo: 😀

    Greg

He already has his money on a Space project with Burt Rutan so i don’t think he will need a Old workhorse like the Shuttle, The Shuttle has done pretty well really despite the project having 2 accidents, The Shuttle was the First re-usable Space Craft and made a lot of other space projects happen.
Due to the Shuttle we came to think traveling to Space was a easy thing to do, Sadly the Accidents proved how risky it is really.

It will be intresting to see what will replace the Space Shuttle, I know the Russians are in early stages of a project, Are the Americans too?.

Sad sad news my sympathies go to all involved.
I remember seeing this Aircraft last year on the Isle of Wight and have just been looking through my photo’s of her, Sad to think whats happened seems aviation is going through a bad time.

Lovely shots- the one of the Red Arrows breaking over the C-17 is fantastic.

Weird how f-16’s can operate out of Biggin Hill for Eastbourne but they rarely operate from there for an airshow at Biggin.

The Belgian Airforce first let their F-16s land at Biggin during the Battle of Britain show last year. They did several Touch and Go’s assessing the situation on Landing before doing so. They used to operate from Manston along with the Dutch in the past.

Previous to then i can only remember seeing a Danish 2 seater land for a static display.
