Robbo your not the only one crying in Croydon tonight mate, I still can not believe this has happened, Steve was a top bloke and someone who was easy to share a laugh with, Even through postings on this forum, He clearly had similar sense of humour to mine and i remember one posting about Pink Floyd where i thought people had either missed the point of what i wrote or not seen the joke, Steve had and came back with a better comment.

Will never forget his love for “Chippie’s” and flying in general and the fact he never got involved in any slagging matches with others in the forum on anything, I was grateful for his kind words when i went to marry Lena and Lena is also upset today, Sometimes this world is so so cruel.

Im not saying i like a “Shoot to Kill” policy anymore than most of the people innocently walking the streets of the UK do,But at the same time i do not like feeling im unsafe going about my daily life either at work or traveling around my capital city as is my right.
I should not be living in fear that somebody is about to try and blow me and the people around me up, At the moment thats what we are dealing with everyday, I work at a Mainline railway station and since 7/7 there has been a big drop in people traveling on the underground trains and a drop in people traveling in general, If a “Shoot to Kill” policy stops somebody killing more people then maybe it will restore some confidence in traveling.

Yes its tragic that a “Innocent” person was killed by the Police but it was a tragic event on 7/7 that led to his death too, Its cause and effect.
We do not know all the facts people and its wrong to judge a man who at the time thought he was doing the right thing, Im sure its playing on his mind now.

Nobody but the Extremists could enjoy the situation London and Britain in general is in now.

We should support our Police and sercurity service who are making efforts to protect us.

Anyone who has played Rugby knows it is very hard to pin a man down when he is struggling, but it is very easy to trigger a bomb.

If I thought I was tackling a struggling suicide bomber and thought my life was in extreme danger I’d shoot him too.

I agree Steve, The sad fact is the police would have had no way of telling if he was a suicide bomber or not and they had seconds to make a decision that potentially could have led to many more deaths than just one.
Its worth remembering if our Capital was not being attacked by extremists this man would be alive now and he is very much a victim of curcumstances, The Police should not be blamed for their actions in this case after all had he been a bomber these very same Police would be held as heroes now.

Its a sh1t job the Police have since 7/7 they have no real choice but to shoot someone if they exect they are a suicide bomber because the alternative does not bear thinking about, Sadly its lightly such a situation could arise again.

My other fear is since 7/7 people in general not only Police are now fearful of Muslims, This breeds a hatred that 99.9% of Muslims do not deserve, These attacks have already started to Allienate Muslims this can only be a bad thing.

Its regretable that somebody died who was not a Bomber,But i 100% stand by the Police for their actions. If he had been a bomber and a “Shoot to Kill” policy was not adopted we could have been looking at another huge loss of life, I hope police will get the backing of the public who they are trying to protect from the evil of terror and we will not have some kind of witch hunt over this.

Well, we are not “at war”. Or else, the UK would have been at war since the very day it existed because terrorism has always existed and will continue to exist, be it muslim-extremists or the IRA. War is when a state of war is declared, which has not happened yet. Using the word War too often may result in undemocratic scenario’s where the leaders ask too much power from parliament.

I’m not minimising this terrorist thread, in contrary. But to call it a war, that is one bridge too far IMHO. Actually that is what these terrorist try to achieve, to bring us into a permanent state of war where everyone is scared.

I see where you are coming from with this and to tend to agree but my comment was “In effect we are at war”.
The current terror situation has led to the Police and other forces needing to take new measures that would have seemed extreme a few years ago when the IRA were the threat,.
As you say the terrorists want us to be scared and thats why they use the tactics they do, They only win if we give up and let them, But if we carry on our lives they will never win. From what i have seen people are doing this and are united in this oppinion, I’m proud of people for this.

As we all know its a difficult and trying time for every innocent person and even more so for the Police, We all know the Police in the UK do not take shooting someone lightly and would not do it unless they saw a threat.
The Stockwell incident seems to have been handled very well so far, They clearly saw a threat and had to eliminate the threat, Sadly there is only one way to do that with a suspected suicide bomber and we all know that, Who knows what would have happened if they had not shot him.

I would not normally agree with a “Shoot to Kill” policy but in effect we are at War now and that changes everything and i support whatever means is needed to protect us all.
I hope everyone supports the police as their actions are to protect us.
