I thought people on this forum might like to see a photo of Sir JOhn taken at last years Biggin Hill, He was on fine form that day and looked much younger than his years.
We have lost a great Englishman today and a Real star.
R.I.P Sir John Mills.
England has lost a true great Englishman on St Georges day.
He was a true legend and a very fine man,I thought people may like to see a photo i too of Sir John at last years Biggin Hill Airshow, He was on fine form that day and i remember feeling i was in the presence of a great man and a real star.
I listen to Virgin mostly and Radio 2 at times.
Not listened to anything on Radio one since the 1990s really they play far too much what i call rubbish really.
All Radio the main stream stations tend to repeat songs too much really thats why CDs are often order of the day for me.
And after the gays; the Aussies. :dev2: 😉

Your comments on religion and god being a private thing were remarkable. I agree. The Catholic church cares less about dying blacks in Africa then they do about Bishops raping little kids in America.
Can someone please explain to me why exactly god cares who we sleep with? He has nothing more important to do? War with devil and planet to run and all…. Or, Perhaps there is no “god”- and those rules are the ones that the old men with the money and the power made up to keep all the peasants in line? Torchs and pitchforks do tend to scare the oppressors.
Food for thought….
I am glad i am not the only one who thinks God is a personal thing.
The Catholic Church is just one big club or union really with the Devoted paying in at one end and the Pope at the other end, I do wonder sometimes if they do not care much for Africa because there is no money to come from those nations.
I guess the thing with God is theres no proof either way to show whether there is One or not, So there will always be the faithful and the non-Believers,The Bible is like any story book everyone can read it differently and make different conclusions to what it means, And those who Quote passages from it to suit what is happening in todays world really could be taking this text out of context for their own means.
I am doubting the Roman Catholic faith will reform for many years which is sad really as i am guessing that many of the Faithful are young and could do with a more modern approach on some things.
In Africa, where the AIDS Pandemic is at its worst, Religion is a major part of peoples lives. If their Local Catholic Bishop says its a sin to wear a condom they will probably believe him. It will cost them their lives.
It is a tragedy that the Catholic Church are either blind to or are deliberately ignoring and that, to my mind, is the biggest sin of all.
But, on the other paw, what if they are right?
I have heard it said African people say they believe A.I.D.S is Gods curse to stop us Sleeping around,They say it attacked the Gay community first because of God did not like their lifestyles then it moved on to people who have sex before marriage, Its a nonsense but you can imagine its a pretty powerful nonsense if you know no better.
Remember many infected African men thought they could rid themselves of the “Demon” HIV by sleeping with virgins etc.
Its a messed up world and sometimes the Faiths do more harm than good in my view.
I have no problem with the French and certainly do not hate them, I have met many arrogant French but i have met many Arrogant people of other nationalities and i have a theory every nation has its own share of such people.
I think the hating French and Germans thing is more of a joke now and not a real thing.
I have also heard more Anti American things more lately than i have ever heard Anti french, Its quiet a standing joke with my friends that you should be careful of a American as he will try and invade your home and change everything like George Bush tries, Its all Stereotypes and to be honest it says a lot about the British Nation that we make fun of other nations and of ourselves too.
I was serious! Religious leaders have persecuted so many groups through history it’s about time we got some revenge isn’t it?!
We have the choice not to listen and not to believe and revenge is pointless.
For me it does not matter who is Pope it will not make me a Catholic or go to any church for that matter, Yes i believe there is a God and the Devil and all that although i am not Baptised or Christened and have no urge to be so.
If God is all around i don’t see the need to go to Any Church to be near him/her nor do i see why i would need any such Leader as a Pope Gods a personal thing i think.
An ex member of the Hitler Youth, German Soldier, ultra Conservative and known as the Papal Enforcer.
An Interesting choice…………
Oh and hes been named after Merlin70’s baby 😉
I must admit thats one heck on a C.V and to me exactly the type of Leader you don’t want, But then i am not catholic so what do i know?.
Still its nice to see at 78 you still have career opitunities other than as a Lollypop man.
The Condom issue is one i doubt they will sort out for decades yet and until they do H.I.V and A.I.D.S will kill many millions more, Until they realise putting a bit of rubber on your Knob is no worse than wearing a raincoat to protect you from the rain.
The one thing that also puzzles me is why choose somebody so old?, surely he will not be Pope for that many years before he also goes to his maker.
WE have to do something she is a living memorial and should be exempt from such rules surely, Boy the Government and the EU don’t have a clue.
Looks lovely i want it so here goes i’m buying a lottery ticket tommrow.
Hey i noticed on the list Denny Dobson is selling a Pitts Special, And there is a C130a for sale too anyone fancy Putting a Herc on the civil register as a Airshow item?
I would like to ask those people who have switched to using digital camera’s after using film camera’s.
1. Since making the switch, how many more photographs do you take at airshows than if you were still using film???
2. Are the pictures you take any better than before???
3. Do you ‘Adjust’ your images???
By this I mean adjust levels, brightness, contrast or sharpen them.4. Do you ‘Alter your pictures???
Changing the background, deleting obstacles and so on…5. What percentage of the pictures you take do you delete???
6. What is the best thing in your mind about using digital???
Just Curious………..
1) I used to take 4 or 5 films at a show they were 36 exposures normally so 180 or 144 photos, I now Take 200 to 250 on a average Airshow day but have done 400 at Last years Biggin Hill in one day.
2)Pictures are better but so is the Camera skills wise i think i am no different.
3)Do some ajustment to centre Airshow photos at times and maybe use the digital Zoom function to ajust them a bit too but don’t do anything beyond that.
4)No i dont alter them get tempted at times but if i do that then its not my photo in my view it would be what the computer did.
5)Not that many maybe 10% at most but i do sometimes delete some of my efforts so i to free up memory space this is usually done by chosing similar photos and deleting the poorer one.If doing this then maybe 30%,Its hard to tell.
6)I love its flexability the fact you can see your efforts instantly , The fact i don’t need get films processed which i think makes it cheaper for me.
Given the age of some of the exhibits and what looks like their generally pretty decent condition I think you’ve been a bit unfair there – they look to be receiving as much care as any external exhibit at the better UK museums, and perhaps more!
I was not meaning to put down any efforts they have made with this collection and i agree they are overall in very good condition, I had never seen some of these types in the flesh so to speak before and was very glad of the chance.
I am certainly not saying they are being treated badly or left to rot as has happened in UK in many cases.
I recommend anybody visiting Warsaw to spend some time at this museuem and see the Katyn exhibition before you leave it will make you think.
She looks stunning, Is it still planned to bring her to the UK for displays?
I plan do Duxford May show, Legends,RIAT,Biggin Hill and if possible Sandown and Eastbourne all are subject to the company i work for giving me time off.
I still want get to Old Walden too this is somewhere i have never visited yet and i must do.
I was in this place this january, but there was a huge pack of snow, so i did not take pics.
Do you have any pics of the stuff that was inside? There were some very nice
models and other memorablia, including Liberator and B17 wreckage. But what impressed me the most was the exhibition about Katyn, that I stumbled accross unprepared.
In Katyn Stalin ordered the massacre of more than 15000 POW Polish officers.
The exhibition holds vast displays filled with hundreds, thousands of personal items displayed by item, recovered from the exhuming in the 90’s.Glasses, shaving gears, shoes, brass uniform buttons and insignia’s as silent wittnesses of what happened in the forests of Katyn.
It did not seem right to photo inside so i did not take any at all, The Katyn exhibition is very moving and is something i did not know much about before hand.
