All the winners of the Eurovision song contestants….and get them a gig as a lounge act on the Titanic.
That be the only time you could say such music went down well 😀 .
I’d quiet like to see this
Of the three i feel Cars are the most dangerous, No matter how good you are as a driver it only takes one idiot to kill you. There are many people on the road without licences and insurance etc, It hardly feels you with confidence, I don’t drive partly for this reason.
Lets be honest Trains are very safe and theres not many serious let alone fatal accidents involving them usually, Its the same for Aircraft very few accidents occur concidering amount of people who travel.
Sadly both Rail and Airline accidents have potential to kill hundreds in one accident.
There is also a arguement that you may walk away from a Train or rail crash but no matter how hard you flap your arms your not going to fly away from a plane crash.
I would like to give a huge thank you to VoyTech for his hospitality and for being our guide Lena and i are grateful.
I will post some photo’s of the parafin burners i photo’ed on my visit but i need download them first.
-I was actually quoting George Harrison in one of his rare interviews who said that if John was still alive he would have very likely joined the Wilburies….-
I would like to think he would have joined the Wilbury’s he already liked Jeff Lynne saying E.L.O was the sound the Beatles would have moved on to had they carried on, he knew Roy Orbison well also and i expect would have loved a fellow writer such as Bob Dylan and i guess him and Tom Petty would have got on well as Tom huge fan of his.
Its sad to say the Wilbury’s are really joining him in Rock heaven slowly with George and Roy already gone, Personally i am glad to see i am not the only one who is a fan of the Traveling Wilbury’s and its nice to hear them mentioned from time to time.
I think John would have kicked Paul up the backside for the way he is now and called him a sell out, Mind you i think he be disapointed in the Rolling Stones for becoming establishment and probably think the same of Ray Davies of the Kinks too, Mind you 24 years is enough to change anyones views and the only thing you can say for sure that Lennon would still be is a Legend of his time and a huge Peace campainer.
Some people are ment to die young and John was never ment to be old in my view.
Eric Prydz prides song…isn’t that the one with all those ladies doin a cardio workout
I think this get my vote too, It ruined a otherwise good song by Steve Winwood and created a pile of sh1te, Its about as original as fish crapping in water.
I also hate Natasha Beddingplant she cashing in on her brother big time and niether really that talented and she has less talent than him.
Flying early in morning from Luton to Warsaw hope to share photos here and on General forums when im back.
So here goes 5days without me being in forum Take care all.
Why…….?
No different to Mosquitos, RS709 and RS712 both going to the USA from the UK.
At least it would be flying unlike both of the above….
I agree to a point i hate the fact we have no flying Mossie here and the Sunderland gone too but remember nobody here was trying to buy them before they went to the USA.
My point is that if a Aircraft is so special to that country some efforts should be made to keep it there were it belongs, If somebody had tried that for us maybe we would have a Mossie here and Sunderland here where they belong instead of cobweb gathering in the USA, Sadly its a expensive bussiness and money talks sentiments don’t.
Yep, I’m with Septic on this one. White Lightnin leaving the States would be like MH434 leaving England. Just shouldn’t happen. Too much history here.
Dan
I tend to agree as well, I would love to see any Lightning fly in Europe again but White Lightnin is a bit too special to ever leave the USA.
As to the CAA there is no reason why they would not let her fly here that i can think of.
Thanks for that – I didn’t of course mean literally that everything is Merlin powered. It’s just that I notice lots of Merlin powered aircraft on the Warbird scene. I daresay winning the war helped in that regard (as in the lack of destruction of manufacturing capability, and lots of intact aircraft and engines and spares etc.) so maybe that accounts for it in part.
This thought/question actually came to me initially in JDKs model Buchon thread, where I have left a similar open question – why the Merlin (instead of Hispano engine in that particular circumstance)?
I guess when it comes to a Buchon they were made with a merlin engine and spares a still easy to get, It would be daft to change it for a rarer engine and give yourself more problems, I personally wish to see a Buchon in correct markings its a Warbird in its own right and should have at least one flying to show its Spanish heritage, They are a a really mixed up Aircraft in my view a German design a British engine built in Spain, Makes you love them more i think.
There’s a penny very slowly dropping for me over these few months I’ve inhabited this place. This P40 is Merlin powered. Everything seems to be Merlin powered. Why?
Is it because …
– there’s a thriving rebuild, parts market?
– there’s a lot of crankcases or other fundamental parts about the place?
– they’re better (if so, in what way)?
– they’re cheaper?
– there’s not really anything else?
The Merlin is the correct P40 so is a great addition to any collection,I have always wanted to see a P40F partly to see how different it is from a Allison powered one.
I kind of disagree that everything is Merlin powered many rebuild or reworkings end up with Allison engines think of the new build yak3s and yak9s as a example,Its natural to say there are more merlin engines flying than any other WW2 engines but then they did power some of the most inportant and sucessful Aircraft of that era.
I don’t think anyone is ever ‘ready’ to go and see the camps. I visited Bergen-Belsen two years ago without planning to do so. Just stumbled across it while driving through Germany. I’m very glad I went though, as it was one of the most humbling experiences of my life. We all need that from time to time. I wouldn’t be so pretentious as to say it’s a life changing experience, but it certainly does alter your outlook and gives some perspective to the everyday stuff somewhat; what seems important today pales into relative insignificance after you’ve visited a camp. Go and do it.
Thanks Steve i am giving it serious thought,I have not set a plan of what to see or where to go as such, But part of me feels compelled to visit and pay Tribute at a camp the rest of me is not so sure.
I hope to post some photo’s of my visit on here when i return and if i love Poland i would love to go back there again next year.
Thanks for info so far i may leave the Vodka i want to remember the trip 😀 .
This is great news, I think Mike has done a great job here as always, I have huge respect for him and his work with these engines and Aircraft.
He is a fine pilot too as he proved in his Tummelisa at Biggin in 2003.
My alltime favourite has to be the Gloster Gladiator partly because is was about as far as the Bi-Plane design could be pushed to at its time its closed cockpit was closer to designs of monoplanes than biplanes.
I also love the Stearman i think its mainly because they are so robust like a trainer should be.
For beauty the Hawker Hind or Nimrod wins hands down.
I also confess i love Pitts Specials too always have i remember even as a kid they seemed pretty small and i think thats part the attaction.
